Boyfriend of 9 years.

That says it all.

Who has a boyfriend for 9 years...?... without thinking maybe this is going NO WHERE....?! He's obviously very good at sliding out from under any kind of obligation.

Why do you bother? The handwriting is on the wall. You should know darn well what this man is, without even opening his mail.

Put up with him ..... or get rid of him.

yeah you never asked a question and besides that.... you better hope he doesn't dump you. i know girls are "curious" creatures but you all better stop going through our stuff cause it PISSES us off, like you cant believe.

i know if my girlfriend went through my mail without my permission and then threw some crap about me being a lier in my face. she must be ready for her *** to get the hell up out my house.

besides what does it matter how much he spent. it wasn't YOUR credit card was it? so it wasn't really any of your business.

and you need to look up what a lie is. because it is not a lie if the person your talking to don't need the information. which in your case is... you.

if you bring this up to him, expect an argument. and you will be in the wrong.

Everyone needs a sense of themselves - a sense of freedom and privacy... even when they are in a relationship. So, people often lie to a partner about little things just to maintain a sense of identity - essentially, it's a polite way of saying it's his business... it doesn't necessarily mean he'll lie to you about larger issues or that he doesn't love you... most likely, he just wants to keep somethings to himself. And many people lie to their partners about financial issues- http://www.truthaboutdeception.com/what_people_lie_about/public/what_people_lie_about.html

I wouldn't be so hard on him. You opened his mail and invaded his privacy, which could lead to him not trusting you. Secondly, there may be additional charges that he didn't know about, maybe he exceeded the alotted miles and left the gas tank empty.

Before you accuse him of lying, bear in mind two things:

First, it's possible that hidden charges upped his total without his knowledge, so talk to him about it.

Second, it's a federal offense to open other people's mail.

Boyfriend...not husband...he really isn't obligated to share any financial information with you. Is the card in both of your names? If not, why are you in his mail?

And this is just the lie you know about...I would be more concerned about the lies you don't know about
