The judgement was a repo I got when I retired because of illness. They got that car ,sold it , and sued me for the difference. I can't afford to pay them. I have another car , my only car, that will be paid off in Dec. 2007. Can they take that?

I'm just starting out with establishing my credit. I tried to get store credit cards etc but every time they decline because I haven't a sufficient credit history, or references. How can i establish credit and is it true that a pre-paid credit card is a good way to start?

I have been trying to get my money back out of these a*******. I call and cancel and they bill me some more. They don't send anything and then they charge you. They also try to enroll you in some program called Living Essentials where they also try to charge your credit card. I may have to cancel my card to get it to stop. I am just wondering if there are others out there who have been taken, too. This company needs to be shut down.

I have a tax lien that originally reported 10/96 and was paid 2/02. How long until it doesn't show at all on my credit report, as it's still giving me grief!!!
Also, I have a paid judgement from a car accident. How long until that no longer shows... if at all?

I'm wondering how this works? For instance, if you owe $2000, and the creditor settles for $1000, does the government consider the unpaid $1000 as income which you must pay taxes on?

Have any of you went through major life changes which you financial debt, to the point where it was overwhelming? If so, what is the MAXIMUM amount of judgements that have been brought against you at one time, before you filed bankruptcy? 2? 3? 10? ect? How many times have you filed bankruptcy? Also, what is the maxium amount you were ever in debt at one point? $5000, $10,000, $20,000, or more? Creditors don't care if you had medical problems, or were in a coma for weeks. They just want their money. Thanks

they are too many lenders that prey on people that have a low fica score by charging way to much of annual fee, intrest, etc., and in return just give them a credit limit of less than $200.00 to start. Thats not right, it should be at least $1,000 to prove they can handle it. The $200 will not cover the cost of the up front annual fee, etc. Give me a break......please!!!

My husband and I filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy and it is to be discharged next year. When it is discharged we will have no debt except for my $25,000 student loan that we were not able to include. Our gross annual is $90k+ now and we have opened and maintained two $500 limit credit cards that have perfect payment history for over a year now.

What else should I be doing between now and then to qualify for a first time home loan once this is discharged? Approximately how much down payment should we be looking to save? Should we be looking to get our credit score be at a certain level considering the bad mark bankruptcy left? Any other tips? I sincerely want a home. We are responsible people who got into a mess because of a medical hardship. We are paying back debt and just hope to come out of this able to purchase our own house.

Thank you all for taking the time to answer. Any help is sincerely appreciated! :-)

What I'm asking is: If you are poor and have an excellant payment history, never late on a credit card payment or house payment, etc., would you have as high of a credit score as someone who is 'well to do'? I'm not asking if a poor person could get a million dollar loan, I'm sure income is a factor there; I'm asking if their credit score would be the same, based on a perfect credit history. Please help me with an answer. Thank you.

I got a credit report today. My credit score is lower than what I expected.Apparently I owe someone $149. It doesn't say who I owe, it just gives a number under the account name and says I'm at least 120 days late.

O.K. So, I'm over $14,000 in debt to a major credit card company. I always had good credit and payed my bills up until January of this year when I ran into horrible luck with my health and lost my job. No one will hire me because of my health and I'm being told I need to apply for disability, but I hate the thought of that.....so please don't say get a job.........I'm trying anything and everything and it's not working. I'm flat broke, borrowing money from a close friend to survive on. Bankruptcy and credit counseling are not options. I have zero income. My credit card company has written off my debt as a bad debt even though I was sending them $25 payments (it was something) up until May of this year. I guess that doesn't count for anything. The calls were non stop, but have now creased. I believe their collectiond dept or a 3rd party sent me something via UPS...no name..only an address but I refused it. I'm trying to avoid it, hoping it will just go away..prob not. Any advice? Thanks

They have become much more treacherous to Consumbers .
1.
By imposed intrest rates in excess of 30% on customers whoes only offense might be a late payment to another creditor .
2.
Reduced grace periods when new purchases are free of intrest . 3.
Lobbled successfully to Congress to weakenprotactions for , cardholders.
4.
Lookup in Consumers Report page15 to learn what you can do to protect yourselves . And call your Congressperson and complain about it ..
