If I use a recruiter to find a 100k plus job for me, what do they charge me? I understand that they charge both the company that ends up employing me, and that they would take a fee from me too. Is it a % of the annual salary, or a flat fee, or what is most common?

I have been working in the hotel industry for 10 years & just recently stayed at a bed & breakfast. It was very charming, warm & inviting. I've decided that this is the career path that I'd rather pursue. I know that with hotels they're usually owned by big names and you apply for them, but how would I get a foot in the bed & breakfast business? Most are family owned. At this point I'd be willing to "intern" a couple of days a week just to get the experience on my resume.

I'm 28, and live at home because I studied English during undergrad - which wasn't for me. I want to start on a new career but I'm still not sure what I want to do. I used to want to study natural science such as physics but that doesnt seem realistic anymore although it's a nice fantasy. I'm considering urban planning or library science. I would like to speak to professionals to get an idea of what working in their fields is like. I don't feel comfortable approaching people, however, considering my age and lack of experience. I've just been doing research on careers on my own. Can anyone help me out?

I have looked around about it but keep coming up to the well known DHL shipping service.

Someone...anyone...have you heard anything about this????

Here is the link to the place if it helps:

What is it that employers want to hear. Like as if you answer "Oh, I am usually late to work" are they really looking for that. What am I supposed to answer. By the way, that was just an example, I have a great work ethic and take my jobs very seriously but, I don't know how to answer this question because if I say I don't have any weaknesses, wont that sound unrealistic. HELP!

A month ago, I got a call from a local business(a popular tattoo parlor) wanting me to create a website. I've done sites for businesses before, so I was willing to help the guys out.

When we sat down and discussed the specifics, they didn't care about the appearence. As long as the right info got up, then everything else was up to me. In about a week, I bought the domain, got hosting, and delivered the site. They liked it.
It was clean and professional(and personally, what I would like to see when deciding what parlor to visit - were I to get a tattoo). They paid me for my services.

After a week, however, they decided that it was too clean. They wanted it to look more like 'other' tattoo sites. Dark, wild, and 'in your face'. I agreed to change it at first, but no I'm not sure if I want to. I feel as though it would be downgrading my work, and that's not something I want to put my name on.

I'm tired of running in circles for these guys. How do I tell them that I quit?

A coworker recently discovered a report at work that shows our departments salaries. Her and I were both astonished at the differences. I have been there for 3 1/2 years and another girl was hired a year ago and makes $2 more an hour than I do, along with others who have been hired after me. I trained these people! How do we tactfully bring this up to our boss without letting him know that we saw this report? She is also being paid lower than others and has been there for 2 years. Just to add, there was nothing illegal about viewing the report, it was accidentally discovered and it is not password protected. It is stored on a shared file that anyone could access.

I am studying, to earn a degree in early childhood education and working full time in an office. I think it would be better to get some experience in, so my question is , Can I get a job teaching before I get my degree and what kind of salary could I earn ? I am not too happy at my job now but the money is o.k. ( pays all the bills, but nothing amazing .) I want to start working with kids asap if I could but the money would have to be at least what I am making now. Open to suggestions
thanks !!

I worked as a Special Education Teacher’s Assistant for about 9 yrs before deciding
I needed a change and going back to school to gat an associates degree in business administration. I am currently working towards a bachelor’s in organizational psychology. Jobs I have researched requires experience, which I have very little of. When I graduated high school I worked as a data collector for Dikita Enterprises where I was commissioned as an intern for Dallas Area Rapid Transit working data analysis and data input. However, as I stated my experiences are limited in those areas and it was years ago. What can I do with what I have? Are there any jobs that will hire someone with basically no experience?

I had an interview for a teaching assistant job last month... I got the job, and am just waiting for the formal offer. My problem is that I included in my list of credentials that I have a certificate in TEFL via a distance learning course. I indicated that the cert would be issued in July 2007, because I was told by my distance learning instructor that it would take about 2 months to process my cert from time of submission. Problem is, it's my cert hasnt arrived yet. I followed up with my school and was told that it actually takes about 3-6 months. I know I can explain this to the school I applied to, but I am worried. The certificate isnt a requirement for the job, but I am afraid it will reflect badly since I placed it in my resume and don't have the actual paper yet. Should I say anything before signing the contract? Should I wait for them to ask? They didn't ask about it during my interview. Please help!!

I went into work yesterday with a cold and by the end of the day it was getting worse. The office manager I work with told me that if I wasn't feeling well today to just call out and not push myself to do too much. I still don't feel that great today and I don't want to get everyone contaminated (I work in a small office). I work for my uncle and that makes it worse on me to call out. I feel guilty calling in like I should go to work. I go to work full time and I also am going to college too. I have a class tonight that I have to go to from 4-7 and it's the first class so I can't miss it. But, I would be working from 8:30-3 then right after that going to class.

What should I do?

When you call out sick should I call the office itself when I know the office manager is there? Should I call my uncle who is my boss?

I've been working for many years but I work in contract security and its a very unreliable job. After 4 years I'm not making any more money then when I started and they lose sites all the time so I have to keep switching around. I am a good worker who has never called off a day and always get good praise but don't seem to be going anywhere. Also in this line of work if you ask for a raise they say the only way you get a raise is if they sign a new contract that pays more, but the problem is that rarely happens or they lose the site altogether. I need to get in a new field but I can't seem to get my foot in the door. I can do pretty much anything, computer skills, hardwork, telephone it doesn't really matter.
