You can always ask. Worst case scenario they rescind their job offer. It's up to you whether that is an acceptable risk.

Ask the 1st company what their deadline is on the job offer ( are they in a super hurry or is there flexibility ?) .
Once you know the deadline , I would not push it too much , would give a bad impression .
Advise the 2nd company you have an offer and ask it they intend to follow up with the interview .
If they are actually considering someone else , they will advise you to take the 1st offer .
If they really want you , they will speed up the next meeting .
Try to get a feel for how serious the 2nd company is .
Good Luck

That doesn't sound like a wise thing to do. That second company may not come through. A bird in the hand (the 1st company) is worth two in the bush (the 2nd company). If you wait for #2 and it's not as good as #1 or doesn't come through at all, you've lost #1.

You could say that you are going on holiday and will decide when you get back. But that will look strange - if you don't make a quick decision most employers will think you are not interested in the position.
personally, I would accept the offer but arrange a start date for a couple of months time. Then you can accept the other job if it gets offered to you. It happens all the time.

Take the first job and if the second one gives you an offer and you prefer the second one, quit the first and take the second. Ta-da!
