I live by the mall, that got burned down during Katrina, and it's finally to open up. There holding a job fair today, and I might go, every single store will be hiring, because it's just now gonna open up. I'm 16, and I'd like to know, what are job fair like, and what are the chance of me getting hired, and can I just fill out a application, and just turn it in, and leave, than call them back shortly after for an interview?

it is very challenging as it is a role to be a city pa in London can anyone offer me any advice on how to succeed? And if possible, some moral support as I'm feeling a bit scared and nervous right now (but not something like "change job" because I want this challenge).

I have 3 jobs, one at a resturant, another at a cafe & childcare twice a week.

I am 15, what are your opinions on this? I enjoy working, if I didn't I wouldn't be doing so much. But I don't want to be wearing my body out.

Any advice? or Opinions?

Thanks xox

here's the case

i live in new york ( upstate )
i graduated in 2006 , ( engineering degree )

but i worked at this call center for 6 months ( mar - august )

what had happend was that i got fired when they were trying to make me full time , they checked my attendence report ( Due to my absenses which was against the company policy ,but i did call in sick whenever i took leaves )

Now i am home , looking for engineering jobs , but i don't think i would be able to find anything any time soon . so would very much like to know if i am eligible to get any unemployment benefits .

We live in the state of Arkansas, and my friend works at a local pharmacy. She works some really crazy hours. Like, 4-5 days a week, all of which are shifts of 12-14 hours each. Now, this doesn't sound like a bad deal, but her boss won't pay overtime rates. What he does (and this seems really wrong to me), is that he pays her for the normal 40 hours a week, and anything over that, he pays her through another financial company that he set up. He refers to this as "contract labor" . Simply put, she makes the same for a normal hourly rate as she does with her overtime hours. She might even work 70 hours, but never gets paid a dime more for her overtime.

So, is anything about this wrong or illegal, or does she just have an incredibly crappy job?

I'm looking for a new job and a friend gave me this advice when deciding between the two jobs....."Frame all decisions through a window of timeliness. In the long term, are your choices sufficient for your aims? Embracing distant gratification can help overcome short-term work difficulties like a pro"
what do you think he means by this?

Okay, so im thinking of resigning my Suntrust computer tech job to work for Worldspan IT Engineer (Programmming) it's better pay than at Suntrust but the only thing is that i first have to go through a 3 month training. the Recruiting process states: "Review for hire with reporting manager following successful completion of training program" I am 30 years old. I am not sure if i should be taking this career risk in being "hired" and reviewed...i am not sure now if i should resign from my secure full time job or take a risk with this other job and see if i get hired after the training. Has anyone worked for this company or know someone who has ? If so, how has their exprience been? Is Worldspan a good company to work for and to get hired after the successful completion of the training program ? Any advice would help. THanks

like I said her experience is limited and she is applying for similar positions not upper positions. Her experience includes in factory work: Build & inspect PC Panels, audit PC Panel parts, Feeder on a J machine, Packer, Inspection, knows how to operate a tow motor and could easily get a new licience for it again. So does anyone have any ideas for a short JOB OBJECTIVE sentence.

Same pay, almost equal benefits, but better career oppurtunities. My current boss is super nice, and my co-workers rock as well.

Should I stay or should I go?

Okay, I would really like a job other than doing chores, because I only get paid, like, five dollars every two weeks, and sometimes my parents "forget" to pay me. So, all I want is suggestions on where I could get a job that pays more than that and where I wouldn't have to give up the rest of my life for it and/or drop out of school.

Thank you. Sorry I couldn't really find a category that fit well.

Went for a second interview on fri with the dept manager and in my opinion it went quite well and we discussed on remuneration in details. At the end of the interview, the manager said that they will get HR to get in touch with me.

What does this mean? I don't want to assume things and I have another interview coming up on monday. But I do hope this means a yes and HR will contact me shortly to give me an offer. They didn;t say how long I will have to wait though.

I suffer depression & anxiety disorder as well as OCD & Tourette's, & I'm on SSI & Social Security. I want to work, but many people tell me I shouldn't work or else it'll be hard for me to get my benefits back. I have my college degree, & I still can't find a job, so I'm back in school. Lots of things interfere with my concentration & focus, & I get distracted easily. The problem is that no one wants to hire me, but I don't know what it is that I'm doing wrong on my application & resume that make an employer not want to hire me. I know I don't have much work experience. I can't keep a job because people think I'm annoying because I always feel the need to explain myself when my supervisor tells me I did something wrong. I never did well with relationships, & people get turned off easily by what I do or say, but I don't mean any harm. Employers have fired me for finding out I have mental illnesses. I feel depressed because I can't live a normal life like everyone else.

I haven't held a job for more then a year since 2002. I have voluntarily left the jobs for various reasons, such as the job having no growth/advancement potential, more responsibility then I can handle, not having enough responsibility (hence becoming bored at work), bad pay, bad hours (I've either had a great hourly wage but with part-time hours or vice versa), and I have been fired 3 times. Twice for not being able to keep up with the basic, minimum reqirements of the job (telemarketing surveys and serving)and once for a no call/no show.

I work at a department store as a retail clerk and I recently put in for a promotion for a opening as a shift lead but I was passed over in favor of a woman who hasn't been there quite as long as I have. I think it was mostly because of how she looks. The store manager likes to flirt with her because of her chest, but I think she's as dumb as a brick! Plus, I already know the job and she doesn't! I know everything the shift leaders do and my manager knows that. I've been working there 3 years and I'm starting to think I will always be held back so should I quit ?
