I got a job 2 weeks ago after a long 2 months of hard looking/applying/interviews. I must have went through 7 different interviews and none of those hired. The job I just got hired to was a walk in and they asked me if I needed a job. Now I thought it was totally strange for a company to ask me if I needed a job but what the hell, yea! I need the money.

I bring this up because allmost ALL the people I know are having really bad times finding jobs. One of the people I know even went as far as applying to McDonalds but he was never called for a interview or anything. He even called them. My brother got hired but it took them a full month to tell him he was hired.

Is this noticable for anyone else or is it just a run of bad luck for some of us?

I've just been offered the job I've been waiting for all my life, in the place I've wanted to live in all my life.
But they need me at my current job, and if I leave here, a lot of stuff will go down the gurgler for a whole lot of people.
Of course they would be able to replace me sooner or later, but I've been telling them I was planning to be there longterm, because I was - until that amazing job popped up out of the blue. Never thought it would.
What should I do?

I know what I want to do, play music, and teach music. Be involved in music. I want to get a second Bachelor's degree in Piano performance.

However, there are a couple of things blocking me from this.

1) I don't have the finances to go back to school and teach full-time.
2) I just got a really good job offer for nearly twice my current salary. (Which would help me advance in a carreer I don't want)

But...I've been an administrative assistant for 3 years now and don't want to continue. I have started teaching piano part-time and I really wanted to build up enough students to eventually quit, sooner than later. I have started a band that I love.

This job offer came out of the blue. I'm just not sure whether or not to take it because it means I have to postpone my plan. Should I just take it and hold off on my life? Or should I decline and just start living what I want to do now?

i've been offered a job where I will make almost twice what i make in my current job. However, in about four months I will be going back to school to get my teacher certification. My current job is pretty flexible and would allow me to keep my job and go to school. I'm trying to think larger picture here, and I would have to leave the new job once school starts. Although the money would provide some more financial security. What do you think I should do?

I had a job interview on Aug 28th. I was told they would be doing 2 and maybe 3rd interviews and that I would be contacted either way. As of today Sep 7th I haven't heard anything yet. I am really interested in this position. The first interview went really well. I felt really good about getting a 2nd interview. Should I call them? How long should I wait?
I don't want to blow it.

I have to take a drug test for a pre-trial program that I am doing Friday morning.

I smoked weed everday for about 3-4 months. I quit on August 13th (the last time I smoked) and today is September 6. I will be going to take the test on September the 7th.

It will have been 25 days on Friday that I have been clean. Should I be worried or not, just by your estimates?

thanks in advance, and yes I have taken this time to stop for good.

I have recently been employed as a manager of a boutique. With the contract signed, stated that termation of employment should be given 1 month notice by either party. After 2 weeks, she hired another person to replace my position and offered me a different position with lesser salary and wanted to redo the agreement she gave to me. But isn't it stated that she should give me 1 month notice? I understand that she wants the best person to run the business coz I had owned a boutique before, but I think this is unprofessional.

I am work four, ten hour shifts, Tuesday through Friday. I love my job and I get a long with the people at work.

Because, they are looking at a supervisor who may quit, they have offered me the postion. The new hours would be Thursday through Sunday. There is a different dynamics of expectations, for me are not as enjoyable, by working the weekend shift. Business are closed down there limited activity. When there is an event I would be responpible to run the entire event, which place me in a gofer boy postion.

The reasons why I am offerred the postiions was because I am I can follow directions and I show up to work. I have office key, so the trust is there. I have no gift I am offer the company at the position and there was not learning challenge for me to take on, the new postion.

The only weenie I am being given is an extra $1.60 per hour and the title. Is this worth it?

I'm writing for a well known radio station in the UK, holding down a part time job in an office, running a house and looking after a small toddler... and I'm three months pregnant too.
I just got an email from my editor asking for a lot of work to be done by tommorrow morning...I feel like I'M LOSING IT!
What can I do? There's no question that I have to complete the work...

I temp for a big company & get asked to come back quite often to be their temp sec. I'm in booking at the moment where I've always known the boss to be offhand (his perm sec has told me). However, he's always been nice to me. He'll say to me, "Don't be nervous to approach me on the phone" & "Let's walk over to the other building together & I'll give you my tape to type". He used to be pretty friendly & just give the occasional tap on the shoulder as his greeting (nothing more than friendly). Sometimes I can see him looking at me at the corner of my eye from another desk. He's complimented me on one occasion how good my typing is. However, I've seen another side to him of late. I went to the toilet & when I got back he had taken my chair, sat on it at another desk (a pet hate of mine) & I was left standing at my desk! It took several minutes for him to give it me back. He was quite curt.

Ok, so I have been at this new job for 6 weeks now and having issues with my supervisor. She is very critical of me , today I got a lecture due to a typo in an email I had send to a co-worker in a different department to ask for some info I needed. The typo had no repercussions at all, I typed Claf and meant calf and they CC'ed her in on the reply as she may have needed the info too. While she tells me off about this for a good 15 mins this other girl in our team just sit there surfing bebo.com etc and she doesn’t say anything about her wasting company time!. She is friends with the other girl. I talked to my supervisors manager and all he said was that her ' behaviour was unusual'. This sort of stuff being going on for the 6 weeks I have been there - do I just give up and get a new job?.

I applied for a job yesterday which was introduced by my teacher. She gave me the employer's email address so I sent my resume there. Today, I called the employer and found that she didn't receive my resume. It turned out that my teacher misspelled the email address and my resume was sent to a total stranger!! It includes all my personal information like where I live, my phone number, etc... Is there anything I can do.... I know I don't ...but just asking for any good idea that could make me feel better...
