So, I have this job that pays marginally well, & to be honest; I do not actually have to work hard at all. However, after 17 years, I am at the same salary I was 5-6 years ago. Plus, there exists a "ceiling" on how much I can earn. At which, I am at the max, & have been for YEARS!
So what do you cool cats think?

I am considering applying for a couple of jobs a state hospital in the are that a i live in. It's the largest hospital in the area, by far.
THe requirements are that you have customer service experience and have an associates degree, which i have, there are a couple of other things like, knowledge of poweroint and excel and etc and previous secreterial a plus which i don't have previous secreterial, i know only a little of poweroint, access and that stuff from college.

However my mother who is a volunteer at a much smaller hospital thinks that i ought to go and become a volunteer and that would be a good start,

1. she has worked as a volunteer for over a year and has gotten no job offers thier.

2. I am already working hard 40 hours per week at a crappy job that i have had for four years and am looking to replace.
and i am not thrilled about working for no compensation, also they are somewhat often calling her in for more volunteering.

WHat should I do???

I just lost my job in the Mortgage Industry, and I've been applying to several places, but nothing is coming through in my area. I am considering taking a job at the Home Depot or Kohls just until I figure things out, and to have income of course. The thing is, when I go to apply to these places, I don't want them to think I'm overqualified to stock shelves, because my resume shows dollar amounts and sales quotas, etc...

So my question is, if I'm applying to a part time or full time hourly retail position, that any 16 year old kid can do...should I gump down my resume?

And second, If the interviewer asks...what would be the best response to give, as to why I'm demoting my career?

This girl is a perfectionist and is snoby and bitchy! And she thinks she knows it all. She is pretty good, but I know I am too. Its just I'm prone to mistakes, but so are others including her sometimes. Should I speak with my boss about this? I don't like her pointing out mistakes to my boss since this makes me look bad. Please help!

My friend came to me with a problem, and I don't quite know what to tell her. She is beginning an internship tomorrow, and she and the lady that will be her boss during the internship, have already gotten off to a wrong start. First of all, she is requiring that for this internship, my friend have transportation and a laptop. My friend had neither of these things, and could not possibly afford a car, so she explained the situation and the lady was fine. However, the laptop was a must, so my friend took out a loan and bought a new laptop. The problem is, she had to start her internship several weeks late until she had the money to buy the laptop, because her supervisor did not want her to come into work without a laptop. So now, the lady has complained to my friend's Professor in school (internship is a required class course), and my friend is scared to go to the internship at all now because she thinks the lady hates her. If you were her, would you quit or suck it up and go?

Tomorrow I have an interview with a celebrity actor to be their personal assistant. Should I hide the fact that I'm pursuing acting as a career and that I have an agent and have experience and am a member of the Screen Actor's Guild and that I go on auditions or is it ok that I reveal this info as long as I make it clear that I'm not looking to be discovered while working for them, I'm just there to soak up the knowledge and gain experience. Or should I just hide the fact I'm an actor and say that I'm unsure what I want to do in the entertainment industry but I have many interests acting, producing, directing...

I'm supposed to find articles about Career Changes. And then later would be asked questions like, How do you know when to change a job? What advice could you give to employees considering a job change?

The articles should be from range between June - Aug 2007. Thanks!

I have been working for a multinational company in London as a graduate last 4 months.. As a foreigner, It was very difficult to get a job for work permit, but my company helped it. It also offers great training, perks, pay, possibility of international post after 2 years etc..
but the job is boring and meaningless. I was desperate to get a job so took this position as financial analyst, which is all about number crunching and excel running etc.. I don't know if its just slump and the job could be more interesting when I'm a senior but I do some pieces of meaningless tasks.
I'm already demotivated in 4 months waiting for leaving office and holiday everyday. I dont' feel confident about my performance either, because I don't have passion for it.
In addition, I'm studying for accounting qualification which was condition of the employment (paid by the company) so I'm worried if I get stuck in finance...
I can only change my job within the company after 2 years, what should I do???

What is the typical waiting period between an informal and formal job offer? Should I expect the contract via email or mail - maybe just an invitation to sign in person? Even though I've already informally accepted the job, should I call to clarify?

Thanks for any advice.

My sister is a senior in highschool this year. She obviously wants to do something with her life, but is dyslexic & somewhat illiterate. She has trouble even filling out job applications, and she isnt very savvy with communitcating word-wise (she knows what she wants to say, but it takes her a long time to say it)

What kind of jobs/careers/trades can i interest her in?
She needs something that not require:
-writing or reading alot (no office type work)
-speaking publicly or alot

Is there some kind of web site that i can go to where you take a survery and it would tell you what kind of career might be interesting depending on your anwsers?

THANKS

Does anyone know of some online or from home jobs that are available? There's a lot of scams out there, so I dunno which is good or not. I'm getting married on October 26th, and currently don't have much of an income. My fiance makes about $500 per paycheck, every two weeks. I'm only making about $100 a week -- babysitting. A job that kinda got tossed on me. We can't live by that -- barely enough for groceries and gas. Not to mention that we have two large dogs (one is 67lbs and one is 90lbs) and a cat that we have to afford for. We also have rent, though only $50 a month, its 50 we don't have. I need the work asap and I don't have any education after highschool (no money, no school.) So if anyone knows of anything, PLEASE tell me. Preferrably not babysitting. Anything with animals is great, and i'm good on computers as well. Thanks!

I have already asked this question and the response showed that that person needs to reread the details. This lady who my boyfriend cut her lawn for, claims that she should have her lawn cut until mid october at $25/cut twice a month($50 for the whole month). However he charges everyone 130-140 a month, but this lady had at first gotten away with paying 90 and her yard isn't worth 90 its worth 130-140. She says she paid in may for june, but when she paid in june and paid 140 she memoed the check for june/july. my boyfriend never agreed to her 50 a month and has called him and left messages in august on why he hasn't cut her yard in august. she didn't pay august, but according to her the 140 should carry her to mid october. She even has chased him around the yard at one of her neighbors house asking why he hasn't cut her yard. she never pays on time and doesn't know how stupid she is for the memo on june/july check. he doesn't cut her yard and i think he should file harassment.
