on what point of the interview you'll be asked or you'll give your references proactively? are you hired if you're asked to give your references?

I don't put my references on my application but hand them to the interviewer when he goes over my application. There is always a lull and it's a great time to smile and say, "Would you like my references?"

In the Uk, references are only obtained after you have received a job offer.

Provide them only when asked... Do not over burden your references with jobs that you are really not going to get. A saavy recruiter will use them to dig up better candidates than you.
