I am a very intelligent (Straight A, Honors/AP) student, and I am looking into career choices. I want to get into a challenging field that pays nicely. I've been researching this topic frequently recently, and I haven't been very successful. Any suggestions?

Definitely take a career test, something like the book "What Color is Your Parachute" that will help narrow down the areas that you're actually good in. Then take a look at the list you get. There are many good paying jobs in ALL categories. It's how you apply yourself and how much you actually enjoy doing the job. You won't succeed or make money if you hate what you're doing.

As for random ideas: anything medical with lots more college, web stuff (the more nerdy the better like flash developer working at a major advertising agency), financial (especially hedge funds), high end real estate, working for a pharmaceutical company if you love pills.

I say keep studying if you have the money and time. You'll figure it out. Good luck!

really depends on your goal....Was valedictorian at my school and 3.8 in college. Decided to go to nursing school and become an RN. It is very rewarding and when you look back at your life you will see how many people's life you have changed. It pays very well, sometimes as much as $150,000 a year. You only have to work three days a week for it to be consider red full time, which leaves you a ton of time for fun and travel. It is relatively inexpensive to finish so you wont be saddled with debt when you graduate, and you will earn the respect of your family and friends. Best of luck in your decision, IM me or add me as a contact if you have anymore questions.

are you still in school?, if you are then go talk to your guidance counselor, we have a thing called pathfinder, its a computer program that's a little bit like an IQ test but instead of telling you your IQ it tells you possible careers that you might be good at based on the answers you gave to the questions it asked you!

good luck, i have the same probelem (exept i dont get straight A's, like you

well there are many different jobs that are challenging. i would say to you first of all to take a career test-this will show you where your interests lie and perhaps suggest a few jobs that would interest you. i would also suggest to do a job that suits your interest. dont just do it because you have the grades to do it and you or your family want the prestige.. you may end up hating the job..

Depends on what you like and your motivations. Some careers pay well, but you will hate them. Trust me working at a job for 5 years that you hate, it will not be worth the money.

Try Pharmaceuticals Rep. Good money and variety. Plus job security, everybody needs drugs.
