If they're still in training, they're not a regular employee yet, right? So then if they're let go, that doesn't equal getting fired, right?

??

I work in a retail store. Someone filled an application for employment and turned it in. He was called for job interview and he did well on the interview. So he was told by the manager that he is hired and he should come on Orientation on November 1st, 2007.

He showed up at the orientation and looked very determined. Then he was told that he give a call tommorow to let him know what his training schedule is. He agreed.

But he never called or never showed up since. He just came on orientation and it was over after that. How come?

He does not even show up to pick up his $25 check for the 3 and a half hours he showed up for, on orientation.

What might have happened and why he never responded after the orientation?

At least he could have called to explain what is going on.

After the interview process is completed, does a prospective employer refer to the resume or does he base his hiring strictly on the interview?

So I met with HR today for the company that I've applied for. Went on several interviews, and they finally decide to extend an offer to me.

They didn't really give me much time to sit on it and think about it. I was suppose to accept the position at that very point of day. At the moment, it sounded like a good job but when I factor in the commute (SJ to San Francisco), and salary, it's not worth it.

Employment is contingent on background check and drug test (within 48 hours).

I'm reconsider and do not want this job. What should I do?

I was recently termanated from a job for attendence becuase I was hospitalized several times. How can I fill out applications to make this not show up and will I be refused for it?

Do I have to use this last job, can I just neglect to put it on paper? Can companies look it up?

so i'm going to college soon, and i want an apartment and such, which is about 2,000 for the location, i also need things like food and clothes and things. what would be a good job that i could easily get that would pay well. i've never had a job before, so i'm not exactly sure about everything yet.
so here are my biggest concerns:

-is $14/hr a lot to pay an 18 year old? (yes, i do know it depends on the job...that's my next question)
-what type of job would be good for a full time student to make 12-14/hr?

you should know:
-i'm up for anything
-i can do simple things like answering phones and such, i've got some experience.
-i'm a liscensed babysitter.
-i worked at my parents restaurant for 5 years, so i'm very skilled at waitressing
-i'm willing to do pretty much anything (i.e. hooters, strip club)
-i'm going to live alone

thank you in advance for all of your answers. i really appreciate it. i wish i hadn't made the mistake of waiting to figure this all out at 18.

Some of them are in unions, I think. I've always thought it could be a good job. Kind of tedious. Yes, but most jobs are. Either that or way too stressful. Or both.

Help! I have an interview today and I'm not sure how to respond to this question. Let me explain...I'm trying to get on a local college and I've been working at a healthcare company for the past two years. My previous job was at a small private college and it was horrible. I was only there for five months because of the working conditions. I love working in an college enviroment but how I can justify me leaving this previous position without bashing the company?

(Rephrasing because some didnt' understand)

After not having said anything negative to my boss in 3 years of working there, I said something. As a response, I got fired a week later. Their reason? "It's not working out."

I have never been written up. I have had stellar performance reviews the entire time. I have had 3 promotions -- more than anyone else in my department.

I was the only female manager. I have heard other managers get into it with him and they shake it off. He calls it courage when they do it. Once when I stoof up to another manager, he called it "bi tchy".

Is it alright that I got fired? Do I have a case? Can I sue?

...since healthy, attractive people are more pleasant to be around, and a pleasant work environment is a productive work environment ? Even if they individually may not be top performers, they contribuet to to making everyone else more productive. It just sounds like good, fair business practice.

I just started a job in retail yesterday morning - as a freight worker. When I signed up for this job I did not know I would have to work at 6 in the morning (wake up at 4:30, leave at 5:10 - I live a ways away), not until they had written up a schedule. Not only are the hours bad, and it's only minimum wage, but the work itself explains why they need help . I've been making myself sick trying to adjust to this, I already knew I hated the job the first day, and knew I was going to quit very soon, but I want to quit tomorrow - which I am scheduled to work. Would it look bad if I didn't drag my butt up there at 5:45 in the morning just to say I quit and instead called to say Id like to resign?

I must add -- they didn't spend time ANY training me or anything! So it's not like I wasted anyone else's time but mine.

Ok i work at a vehicle acessory shop. I install toolboxes, vent shades, bug visors, spray in bedliners, etc.. I make 9.50 an hour.. My last raise was at the begining of this year. About 3 months ago they decided to promote me to exhaust welder. But i still make the same as i did before. Is it right for someone to get promoted to doing more, not to mention harder work with out getting more pay? And also they have started getting me to do extra stuff, like clean their personal yard, washing their personal vehicles, painting fences, nothing that was explained in the job description. I enjoyed my job up until they went stupid on me.. Should i confront my bosses about a raise or quit and go find a better job.. Am i being too irrational.. tell me what you think i should do. thanks

Hi, I'm 16 and have my license. I'm wondering what the minimum age in Illinois is to be a car porter. And I'd also like to know how I would go about getting a job as a camp counselor at a younger kids camping facility. I live in hickory hills Illinois. I'd prefer a camp where I would go and stay for a week or two, unless there is a day only camp close to my house, which I don't think there is. I do have a job right now at a small hobby shop, so I have job experience and people experience. I'm also open to any other suggestions. No fast food or stupid jobs like that though. Please and thanks.
