I'm 15 and interested in commercial or print modeling. I don't have any experience in the field. Also, I'm not looking to make a career out of it or anything; I just want to try it out for fun, and maybe make a little extra cash. I live in San Fransisco, CA.

Should I attempt to sign with a big agency like Ford or Elite? Should I stay small? Should I just go freelance?

I have my parents permission, and have no idea where to start. Advice?

When working at a part-time position that is paid by the hour, is an hour break deducted from the day or included in it? Does it make a difference if the break is taken or not? What is the general rule?

I hate going through recruitment agencies, going to all the endless agency interviews etc, because most of them are fruitless and so they end up a waste of my time!!

I'd rather deal with the employers' HR depts myself. That was possible a few years ago, and I found it most effective for gaining work. No longer!

Ok (deep breath) .. Rant over.

Anyone else find this?

recently, i got so many job offers with high pay. All those are mainly from Nigeria and some are from UK saying that they are in need of skilled and experienced engineers. If I send my cv they will immediately resend the offer and agreement letter, without any interview. How far these are reliable?
Also, they ask us to process for VISA and Work permit.
I even enquired with Nigerian ambassy in Delhi by sending those documents. They didnot reply.
What may be their plan to cheat the persons who need employment? How they will be benifitted by sending this type of mails.

before i quit my job i was once in an okay position in a TV channel but the pay i was receiving does not compensate with what i do. a job offer came, it is a lower position than what I had before. it's graveyard shift but a couple of thousands higher than what i've been receiving before in my former company. i know should be accepting the offer since i'm in need of money. but i have this thought that why should i accept that offer if that position is lower than what i used to have? am i only that worth now? i hope not.

I graduated in May with a Bachelor's degree in Business. It's almost December and I've had NO LUCK AT ALL. I can't even count the amount of places I've applied to, there's so many of them - law firms, marketing companies, travel agencies, everywhere. I read the job descriptions and, even if I don't have everything they're looking for, I apply anyway if I think I can handle the duties. At this point, I don't even care if it's not related directly to my field, I just want a damn job. The best is when they expect 5 years of experience for an entry level job. This is getting ridiculous, I don't know what to do anymore. My mom is getting on my case - and it's not like I'm not trying to find a job. I'm convinced there's just nothing out there.

Anyone else been through this or going through it now? What keeps you sane? Because I'm about to go crazy!!!

I'm only working part-time (full-time student) and I'm planning to quit in another six months (making ten months in total for first job). I'm already looking into other jobs and possibly internships for when that time comes around. Anyway, does it even matter how long you've stayed ... especially when you just work part-time? I guess your performance means more, right?

I've been working for an overnight pharmacy for the past 2 months now, and I'm making a return back to school. I currently make 8.75/hr, but when I first got the job my manager said the pay ranged from 8.50-9.00. I blurted "8.75". As in not to seem greedy. A few weeks after that conversation, I reconsidered, and was about ask mngt. for the extra quarter, but I caught the flu and was out for three days (with doctors note). And because I missed those days I lost my nerve.

How should I approach this if I ask?

I may be receiving a promotion at work, which would entail some work from home as well as some weekends. I heard that in similar cases, I can do something like purchase a computer for the "home-work" that I will be doing, and have my corporation pay for it?

Is this true? Where can I find more details? Thanks!
