ok.girls...pay attention...I am a H.R. manager and this is how we choose people that come to apply to our retail store
First ....go and pick up an application..TIP..dress nice, no hoochie momma outfits...even if you go for a little bit to pick up application//fill out application completely...if there is anything that does not apply to you...write down N/A ( not applicable) it shows that you actually read it and do not leave it blank....Have your parent help you.
Then go to the store a drop it off just as nice dress as you were when you picked it up.
If you get to talk to someone.in the store about the job...Smile a lot...( employeer loves smile )
Have a respond for the general questions like...Why would you like to work here...( the correct answer is ) because Your reputation as a great place to work proceed you, sir or madam.
plus it is closed from home or your schedule are flexible for me to keep going to school
The other universal question is What can you bring to this store?
The correct answer is " I am a dedicated and hard working individual with the high sense of urgency for things to get done quickly. I have a great customer service idea and if you give me the opportunity I will show you...
GOOD LUCK

Usually, retail stores like to have 16 to 17 year olds to start, so you are in the right age range. I would pick up a sample application, take it home, and go over it with your parent(s).

Each job application has two 'killswitch' items to get you to take yourself out of contention. The first is money...how much do you expect to earn. The second is your criminal history...have you ever been arrested or convicted of...

You have to read those carefully.

When applying for any job, keep the addresses of your references with you; make sure that you clearly write out your answers (or type them out if you are using a Kiosk application). Lastly, remember that the application is only the tip of the process. A good thank you note, a personal interview, a resume, and a cover letter are also a part of the process.

Check on line...there are dozens of sites with tips for teens on employment.

I have filled out MANY applications... LOL just go to a store you would like to work at, ask how old you have to be to work there. Then when they give you the app, just fill it out... there may be a section for job history just leave it blank and tell the manager you haven't had a job. Fill out apps at many places just in case you don't get the job you want. My first job was at McDonalds... I was 17... it's a good first job, because they always need people... there and Burger King places like that... I started at McDonalds, went to PacSun... then a few waitressing jobs, and now I work for a clothing store. =)

Hope I helped a little... Good Luck!!!!

If you've never worked before, I suppose you can't really make a resume, so I think if I were you, I would go to that store you really wanna work at and ask them what you can do to work there. You can tell them that you really wanna work there and it would make you happy. Volunteer to do anything for them. If they see that you're willing, they may allow you to volunteer for a bit and if you're old enough to work there, the volunteering may help you get the job. It depends on how they work with 16 year olds. It's worth a try. You have nothing to lose.

Go to the retail store, to the office, and ask for an application. Fill it out neatly and completely, and turn it back in - most places you can take it home, although many stores now have computer kiosks to enter an application.

If they call you for an interview, dress neatly, no jeans or flip-flops.

Good luck.
