Honestly, my male bosses have been better than the few females that I encountered. The female bosses that I have had were trying to climb the corporate ladder and would step on anybody they needed to in the process. They tended to be more emotional about their jobs, more paranoid about other people "out to get them".

In my experience my male bosses were, and I really hate to admit this, better bosses all around. They seem to be more understanding and quicker to give out positive praise. My female bosses on the other hand, and this is only in my experience, were tougher and harder to get along with. I had one that was so negative all the time and treated her employees so poorly that I absolutely hated my job just because of her. Thats not always the case, I'm sure there are some great female bosses out there, but I've just never had one.

Whether or not a boss is good has absolutely nothing to do with gender. I've worked for several bosses of both genders. I've had excellent and bad male bosses as well as excellent and bad female bosses.
It's their leadership skills and training that make them good or the lack of them that makes them bad.

I'm a female who is almost 24.
My female bosses have been more easy going. Mostly because if they are stressed they hide it. My male bosses have been cool, but when they get mad it really comes out.
My female bosses have treated me like the young person I am, but also really professionally.
My male bosses call me kid, and like teasing me. Nothing mean. Just kidding around. Like brothers. Something to get me to smile. I've dished it back at the lower boss a few times, and he smiled.
