Piercings can be taken out. While tatoos can't, if they're placed in a certain way they should be easy to cover up. My friend always asks her employer his/her policy on tattoos/piercings. As long as you hide them before getting the job, you cannot be fired for having them as long as you continue to hide them.

My opinion, yes you will be passed over for certain types of employment. When working with the public or in a responsible office position a lot of people are put off by visable tattoos and pierced lips and eyebrows, most such places have a dress code.
I would definitely remove the pierced jewelry and keep it out when interviewing and when on the job. Your own time is your time.
Cover the tattoos with long sleeves, again your time is your time.
I believe I am selling my time to an employer and that employer has a right to expect a certain job be performed, certain image, certain conduct and I am being compensated with the ability to provide for myself and family. IF, however, you are in a blue collar situation, working at a tattoo parlor, music industry - well you get the idea - a tattoo or piercing is not going to matter but you will still be expected to perform your job.

I'm 16 and I don't think you're being too strict at all (: I have two piercings in both ears, a bellybutton piercing and a tongue piercing. I don't have any tattoos (yet hahha). The only thing I disagree with is about talking to people age 65 and over with tattoos. Maybe you could just find some pictures on google of tattoos after some time. But as a parent it seems you've got it all done! Hope this helps (:

What kind of job are you interviewing for? I'd try to get something simple and tasteful to put in the piercings... either simple hoops or barbells without ornamentation, or (if you can get them) clear plastic (or take them out for the interview if that's an option). Cover the tattoos as best as you can: wear a long-sleeved shirt. Be sure you're well-groomed.
Other than that, I don't know. People might make assumptions about what kind of person you are based on the body art. This is more of a big deal in some jobs than others. Just do your best to show them that you're the right person for the job! If you're concerned, bring it up when they hire you. Don't mention it before that unless they bring it up. Good luck at your interviews!

Many companies have policies against both, especially if you are expected to deal with the public. They do not look professional, and can actually frighten customers away. Ditch the jewelry, and try to cover the tatoos if you want to be taken seriously.

i would just ignore the first answer, it sounds like a stupid idea. I would say tattoos look worse for a job, but the eyebrow piercing probably isn't great either. Employers aren't supposed to employ people by what they look like, but some still do so yeah....

if i were you i would buy plugs to put in your piercings while at job interviews and the job its self. as for visible tattoos where are they.. most can be hidden with the right kind of shirt. or pants.. if they are small tatts i wouldnt worry to much.. i had a plug for my eyebrow piercing for that reason and my tatts are in places i can cover.

My personal opinion is the piercings - lt makes it look like you had an accident or something. I like tats, though. Some are real works of art. :)

suggestion; if you wish to serve the public,
remove the jewelry and cover the tatoos.
Also, be very very careful; many piercings
become infected and surgery is needed to
fix the problem!
