I quit my job due to a family emergency and i didn't call her and inform her until a week later since i think my family was more important and she wont give me my check she held for a week and 2 days i worked. she also doesn't do taxes she pays under the table for her business, couldnt i hand her into some bureau for her not doing her taxes and not paying me?

i have an interest in starting a stuff envelopes home business. presently i have 3 companies located in different states. i have checked the internet better business bureu and all 3 companies are not listed. does anyone know a legimate at home stuffing envelope business that pays and is reputable?

Their web site (cidinternational.org) claims they are " 'the' certifying body to accredit and certify interior decorators for the first time in history." Is their certification really valuable, or does some other organization offer a more recognized certification?

my employer deducts our lunch break from our pay, so instead of getting paid for 8 hours per day, we get paid for 7.5. Is this legal and if not whom do I need to contact? I've never heard of this before. My state is North Carolina. Thanks

I tried to apply for 5 jobs last month hoping I could save enough money before school start "August 20". But no one has called me, last time I posted that Im over qualified and I need to "dumb down my application" by not putting too much information about education because they think I would only be working there for the time being. Now its August 3 and no one called, Im going to apply AGAIN today in different places, but IT TAKES A MONTH to get called....... theres no hope, and I cant ask my parents for money. My major is Computer arts in Animation, and Im taking it at Florida Atlantic University, and I need a computer to do it, and there is no lab near my area, and I also dont want to borrow money, if i got not JOB. This is really bad, unless you know a way to get a job that will get you hired immediately, that will truly help. Mcdonalds, Wendies, Video connection,Wallmanrt, Publix, another Mcdonalds, heh I guess they want people with less education

I'm 21 and I'm almost 2 months into my first real job as an assistant manager at a drug store.
My job is cool except for one thing, there's this clerk that seems to hate all us employees because we're all young enough to be her children. So she tries to command us like if we were her kids. When we tell her waht to do she battles back saying we're not the boss of her. My boss knows about all this but he's powerless to stop her as well. She's older than him too.
Yesterday she decided to started this heated arguement with another clerk. When we tried to ask to not to do it in front of the customers and please take it back it got worse. Then she started screaming that the store would fail without her.
I was wondering, does it bother any of you out there if your boss is young enough to be your child? Or is this just isolated?

I work for a family run company. My boss has an extremely mischievous son that he brings to work every Friday. This kid is 17 and acts like he is 5. He makes fun of our mentally handicapped janitor and makes a mess of my office, including today drawing on a picture of my pregnant wife. I am fed up with this kid , all he causes is trouble and makes a mess. How do I handle this kid, I want to hit him.

I'm filling out an application for Red Robin to be a waitress, and it asks my expected wage. I know that waitresses don't get paid much because of tips, so I don't know what to put.

I've never worked at a restruant so I dont know how much they get paid, like $3 maybe?

I have been working at a retail shop for a while now and have wanted to quit for some time. The reason why I have stayed is for the money. The people are very unfriendly and have at times treated me as well as other employees like we are 2 years old. I have received my schedule for next week and am only scheduled for under 6 hours of work. This is suprising and shocking to me since I have been scheduled over the past couple weeks for 20+ hours. In addition I feel I am a great employee. I have come in as early as 7am to help with new items being brought into the store. I have never complained about early or late work hours or last minute changes. I am really thinking about quitting it has lately seemed that they do not appreciate me or my work ethic. The positives of quitting would be that it would give me a real kick in the pants to find something and spread my wings and find something I could really build as a career. The negative aspect no immediate money coming in.

I have been through the driving record check and the drug screening, but yet to have a formal interview, where in the hiring procedure am I? There was one other person being looked at for the same position, same town as me. My neighbor has dug out 5 foot from hillside along our shared driveway...causing me to have exess rain waters onto my carport. He claims he has no money to put in drain on his driveway for water flow, so it comes down to my house. He said the right of way allows him to dig out the hillside. I filled a portion of the hillside back in where most of the water is coming from. Which he is not happy about. Is not the right of way as much mine to do, as it is the neighbor? This matter is in Charlestion, WV. Any lawyers interested.....?

My fiance works for a company that only hires employees as contractors. As of this week they have started fining any one who doesn't show up for work $100 per day, or $20 per missed job on the route they would have gotten had they shown up, which ever is more. Is this legal? We live ohio, since labor laws may differ from state to state. Thanks if you can help.

I am trying to leave my job as I dread going in every day, dont particulary get on with the people I work with and get little support in what is a very difficult and demanding job. My employer is aware I am trying to leave and I have applied for 5 different posts and am receiving interviews. my father recently sold my grandmothers business, and my dad and my mom and i all worked here, well, tuesday the new owners fired my mom and dad, but they kept me!?! and they fired my dad for the stupidist reason, one strike and he was out, they fired my mom (she was our delivery person) because their wife was going to start doing that, but they say they want me to stay on, do i? i feel like i'm being torn between a job where i really don't do anything, and loved doing, when my dad was here, and my father, i feel like i have to pick.!

the ONLY reason they gave him was that he didn't give them his personal password for the email/internet account that he pays for out of his personal account, which the business used but did not own, and the new owner was saying that he bought everything to do with the business, which the contract was not worded that way, it was worded that he bought the building and equipment, an asset buy
