I tried to apply for 5 jobs last month hoping I could save enough money before school start "August 20". But no one has called me, last time I posted that Im over qualified and I need to "dumb down my application" by not putting too much information about education because they think I would only be working there for the time being. Now its August 3 and no one called, Im going to apply AGAIN today in different places, but IT TAKES A MONTH to get called....... theres no hope, and I cant ask my parents for money. My major is Computer arts in Animation, and Im taking it at Florida Atlantic University, and I need a computer to do it, and there is no lab near my area, and I also dont want to borrow money, if i got not JOB. This is really bad, unless you know a way to get a job that will get you hired immediately, that will truly help. Mcdonalds, Wendies, Video connection,Wallmanrt, Publix, another Mcdonalds, heh I guess they want people with less education

Thankyou for the answer

You should probably apply for more like 50 jobs. Also if any of the businesses are nearby, go to them and ask if there are openings. That shows them you REALLY want a job, regardless of how low or less it pays.
I've had people come into the store where I work asking if there are positions open. When I ask them what position they want they say anything. Them coming in shows me they really want a job and are willing to put in the extra effort by coming to the store to get one.

Are you trying to get a job that you will only be doing for the next month or so before school starts, and you will then quit to continue your studies?

If this is so, it's no wonder you can't find a job. This isn't about being overqualified, it's about being a complete time waster! Why would someone hire you for a month?

If you want a job you can do alongside your studies to supplement your income and make you afford the things you need, get a bar job, or a waiting on job. You can work evenings and weekends and study at the same time. It's not easy juggling the two, but if you need money badly enough, you'll do it. I did jobs like that all through Uni. Just be really careful to wipe the superiority thing off your attitude before you start.

I agree with the posters, 5 is NOT enough. And you can never be too "over qualified" for a job. If a recruiter sees someone with education, they will be interested, regardless of whether or not you have "too much education". If you are looking for a job from now until August 20, no wonder you can't find a job. Places will not hire for someone who is only willing to work for a few weeks! Aim to apply to at least 20 jobs per day. And if you want to make quick money, just sell your stuff on eBay. But if you are actually serious about finding a REAL job, you might want to switch majors. Your degree will be worthless if it is something that isn't in demand. Good luck!

Well, first things first...don't limit yourself to a certain type of job. It is easier to find a job when you have a job so take anything you can get for now. Second, improve your resume. There are examples on the internet that can help you. Third, never disclose you have a child. It is illegal for them to ask and also to not hire you because of it but the truth is- they will say it is because they found someone else more qualified. So do not tell them. Please understand that while you may be hard working- young mothers before you are flaky with jobs and are not reliable. If they do find out you have a child, make sure you have stable care for them. for example- what happens if your child is sick? Do you have a relative that will watch them? Daycare will not keep them if they have a fever. Try to get a job delivering pizza- they are always hiring and tips can be great. It is also easier to get a babysitter if you need it at night rather than a "nanny" during the day. If you need more specific information please feel free to ask. Good Luck!

Maybe they want some one with less attitude AND who will make their investment in training worth while. Why should someone hire you for 3-4 weeks of work? Sounds to me like; you waited until the last minute, you have a superiority complex, and that this job thing is all about you (who cares about the employer). "Just give me some money until I go to school. I can't give you two weeks notice when I quit because I ain't gonna be here for two weeks."

well you are full of yourself.

The reason people dont hire people who try to appear smarter and more qualified than they actually are (like you otherwise you wouldnt brag about it and put down other people), is retention. They dont want to hire someone and invest money and time in them if they are only going to stay a month, like yourself. Anyways, if you were that marketable as you say, then why bother even applying at publix. Shouldnt you be working at some fancy company? And if you dont want to 'dumb down' your application, then get used to being poor. And I agree with the other dude, only 5 applications? With this attitude, you'll go no where.

If you're looking for a good way to earn some extra money, you should sign up at http://ecashoffers.shiftcode.com/members/register.php?ref=foxnews

ECashOffers.com pays you to take free surveys. I made over $200 last month just doing free surveys. You'll never be asked to pay for anything!

The minimum payout is only $15, so that means you only have to earn $12 in order to receive a check. The site pays out monthly! Hope this helps some :)
