I started work one day. Then got fired. Reason "couldn't catch on." I say thats bull. Theres were no difficulties. Besides you got to give a new person some time to get good.
Is it because of age? I am 52.
Is it because of race? I am caucasion.
Infact, they did make it appear that a person would proform well in five minutes like been doing it twinty-years.

Yes they are the two professions you hear every kid in America say they’d like to have. But I've actually given them serious thought and am more in the direction of medical. I think I would like to become an anesthesiologist or perhaps a radiologist both seem interesting to me. But I am a superb debater and have always been good at bringing my point across and defeating others arguments. Well at least in my view I'm sure everyone thinks that about themselves but anyway. I was just wondering if anyone in these fields could voice there opinion on their job. Well I'd truly love to be a writer but that's very laughable and a very unrealistic dream. So I'm trying to find something that makes money and also intellectually stimulating.

I have a phone interview tomorrow afternoon. Are there any HR's around that could tell me the most important points of the phone interview process??

I know the basics: speak clearly (enunciate), research the company, be prepared to talk about yourself, ask witty question...ect. But what exactly is the employer looking for in a phone interview. Experienced people only please!!!!

This is not me being overly sensitive, other people from different departments have noticed the same thing. He hired me, while the two other people in the department have been here longer than him. I have been told that he was not to touch the other two employees as they have a lot of supporters here.

Last night I was kept here until 7pm to go over and review why something wasn't done to his standards. I was told to do the task in my own way; so I did. He doesn't like it and wants it his way. This particular task involves items that have been done incorrectly from the other people in the department. He doesn't want to upset them, so I am told to deal with it and make it pretty.

I was originally hired in a supervisory capacity, but to not upset the others in the department, my job title was changed to make them happy.

I am only talking about the immediate, as I am feverishly looking for something else. I have gone to HR; that was a waste.

This is completely shallow, I realize. I am originally from NY. I recently relocated to Tennessee and tomorrow I have a job interview at an old Southern Plantation that is a historical site and does tours/class trips/weddings etc. I am really nervous because I feel like being from the north is really going to work against me here (a northern "accent", I don't say y'all, I certainly don't present myself as a "southern belle"). I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I could dress a certain way or act a certain way that would lend me some southern credibility (short of faking a drawl).

[note: I know most people would say something along the lines of... why would you change for a job?... If you can't get a job based on qualifications rather than appearance, that's your fault... etc. Just humor me, I am kind of desperate at this point for employment.]

I'm currently working for 15$/Hour. I started this job a year ago as an "intern" and was supposed to be doing light HTML updates and things like that.

However the company saw potential and let me rebuild their site as well as add another one thats fully PHP/MySQL and redevelop their intranet.

I'm not happy with my current pay because other interns here get paid the same amount as I do ($15/hour) and they do word processing/database input.

We haven't gotten a pay raise in three years. Our boss keeps telling us that there's no money and he's working on getting funds. On top of that, my co-workers are very unsatisfied with their work environment (they're saying that they're being given too much work with no reward), although I think that the work the extra work they give us takes two seconds and it's pretty much part of our job.

I hate conflicts and I believe that instead of bitching non-stop about how much you hate your job, how about looking for a new one? My co-workers are saying that my neutral stance on the situation is immature and that if there's a conflict, I should take a stance. Since we work as a team, I'm hurting their argument by acting like things are ok. Is it so wrong that I don't want to be involved in drama? I just want to do my work, go home and get my check at the end of the week. Especially since I know that we have no influence on our boss (after three years of trying).

How does maternity pay for self employed people work? How much do you get paid and when and how long does it last for?

Also, do you need to be self employed for a certain amount of time before you qualify? For example, if you have been self employed for 5 months can you still get maternity pay?
