She's a manager at the moment and she said she used to be a 'sex phone line'. Now, she wants to do dominatrix. I don't know whether she's being genuine or is telling me for shock value. She sits opposite me and wonder if it's just for something to say. What should I do? I don't really want to get involved really.

My husband and I want to retire early sail on a boat the rest of our lives and really do not want to be slaves to any low paying jobs. We both have different skills. He can work on anything. I am creative and have alot of artistic skills, lots of generic talents, but nothing that has materialized into a useful career. What should I consider doing if this is our dream?

II need advice- and fast. A couple of weeks ago I was offered a job from another company. The job is a huge promotion from my current position, (one that I would have to wait another 2 years for if I remained at my current workplace), with an increase in salary by about 20%. The job was offered to me by a manager whom I used to work for, one whom I have a good working relationship with. This position however is interstate- in a small town, and in taking up the offer I would have to move away from a good support network of family and friends. Because of this, my parents are against the move, as they feel I am still too young (22 yrs) to take on the responsibilities associated with this new job, coupled with the pressure of moving away from my home environment. So I've turned down the offer. Now I'm regretting it. Is this a risk worth taking, or should I wait? I'm sure if I reapproached the company in the next few days, the offer would still stand.

I recently quit my job. I did not tell my former employer where I was going. I e-mailed an ex co worker of mine letting her know my new job was great and I would call her later. I gave no details. Her boss ended up checking her e-mail and replied back to me letting me know that she found out what company I had gone to work for and to never e-mail her employees again. I replied back advising her to take it up with her employees and ask that they not communicate with me on their company e-mail. She has no business e-mailing or addressing me as I am no longer employed there. She then called my new boss and forwarded the e-mail to him. I feel she had no right to call my new employer and do that. My new boss questioned me and made me feel extremely uncomfortable that he was being involved. I want to sue because my relationship with my new employer has been damaged and I can't work there. I'm being treated different already! I can't focus and It's too early in the game for this.

When I think about what I want to do as far as careers go... I obviously want to be financially secure, to enjoy life.

However I do NOT want to be a doctor, real estate agent, investor, stock broker, anaesthesiologist, or airplane pilot.

Im really trying to think outside the box...

I've always had a personal interest in the arts, travel, (maybe) interior design.

Or maybe something totally obscure like... working in Italy for a wine company.

Anyone have any inspiring thoughts or stories about how to do well career and money wise?

My superior, Valerie, she is such a *****, been tolerating her for 6 years now. The otherday ask me to do her work again, and after i completed her work at the end of the day, she realised that she has not given me the full set and had to stay back to complete her work herself, as i told her i cannot do t as i have to attend to some personal matter. Because of this she was blamed for not completing her work and given me a warning letter for just making her look bad. She is always so mean to others, even bullying my pregnant colleagues

Im going to have to do a graveyard shift for a few times a week for a few months for my job. The work is not very demanding and mostly paperwork.
I dont think it will be too bad since i've been a night owl for most my life. It always seems to be very late before I can get to sleep (2 or 3am). Seems my clock has always been set for quite late. So a 4 hour difference shouldnt be that bad.

But anyone done these shifts have any tips? Thanks

So today I get to work and I see that a girl got promoted. I'm thinking, "What the hell is that?" She has been there 4 months, she works 3 or 4 days a week, she doesn't work full shifts but she gets promoted? I, on the other hand, work all the time, I barely take my break, my productivity is high, I always work overtime, etc. And I get shaffled? What the hell is that? Has this happened to anyone else?

I am wondering if it's worth buying, or if the suggestions the author makes in the book are common sense or could be gleaned for free online?

If you haven't read this book or know someone who has, please don't answer this question. Thanks!
