I recently completed a PhD in physics. About a year before I finished my degree, I realized I didn't want to continue in the sciences but I didn't want to give up on my degree either. Now I'm finished but I'm not sure what I want to do going forward. For personal reasons, I have been unemployed for about 6 months immediately after finishing my degree. It was not my choice and now I'm feeling unmotivated and have lost perspective on the future. Any advice?

I am trying to get into the Business internship program (Co-op program), and one of the things they want in their application is a personal statement (i.e., letter of intent). I want to write one that would stand out, so I want to ask what I should put in the statement. It would be a real bonus if you guys can provide a website for sources, as well. Thanks a bunch!

I'm thinking of becoming a doctor, . What qualifications/grades do I need? I'm top of my year and in the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth. How much money can I expect to earn? How long will I have to study for? I'm OK with hard work, but I want to travel around the world while I'm still fairly young. How much does medical school cost? Any other info would be great. Thanks!!

I used to work at my high school, and on thursday (2/8/07) I just quit. Recently I had been working with autistic children, then a week ago I asked to be switched to a different room because there was so much drama in that room. Well, monday comes and I hated it. Skip to thursday, I went to the person who places everybody in different rooms, and told her that I want to quit. She said "Ok, so, are you going to quit today, or 2 weeks from now or what?" So I told her that today would be my last day. Earlier in the year, there have been some problems with some of my co-workers and I . At the beginning of january, I told her that I quit. But then I went back in later that day and told her I was feeling very stressed that morning and would like to change my answer. They gave me another chance and told me next time this should happen it's for good. So,when I told her thursday that I quit. I told her I was serious about it now, and have been thinking about it for awhile.

Why does our government force us to work for a minimum wage? What if the work we do is actually not worth whatever the minimum wage is--what if my work is only worth $3 per hour--why do our legislators insist I earn $7.25 per hour? Here are the economic consequences:

1. They tried to mandate in the city of Chicago that any store over 70,000 square feet must pay high hourly wages with benefits--Walmart and Target promptly canceled plans to build stores in "underserved areas"

2. By requiring business to pay minimum wage, you give the incentive to corporations and small business to either outsource to another country or automate a position once occupied by a human.

3. I have learned that politicians are very bad economists and don't make very wise decisions. What do we need to do as citizens to make our legislators spend our tax dollars in a prudent way?

I have a job interview next week. and I have three people as my references. and each has promised to write me a letter of reference in preparations for an interview (this was a while ago, and far as know, they are already written)

but I have a question. Do I need to get the letters themselves from them and take the letters with me to the interview, or does the company interviewing me have to request them from my references themselves, who send them in?

(in case it matters, its an office job).

Can you get a job as a school psychologist for a middle or high school with a masters in clinical psychology?

Also, does the job entail mostly one-on-one counceling for kids, or more testing for things like ADD or something of that nature?

Thanks.

I have been employed several times in the past 10 years. I have been fired a few times for random drug testing; however, never once was result of an accident, injury or complaint. When employed I have no problem buying my pot and still paying bills, guess I should have been a drunk instead of a stoner. At least then I'd still be working, who needs a liver anywho! I want to know if anyone here has any suggestions. I do not need anyone to decipher and/or translate Skinner v. railway labor executives’ association,(not all jobs involve public safety) potheads have books too! please don’t be douche bags and start putting down the pot! later ya'll

I currently have a job with which i have a love-hate relationship.
Its far from home so ive had to move to a place i dont quite like and the job is stressful but i love the mates i have made here minus management, and i do have some good days, plus im used to it.
Ive been offered a job so much nearer to home but it would mean restarting a training programme i am 5 months into.
Should i take it or stay till in my current job till my training is over??? Help!
