Why does our government force us to work for a minimum wage? What if the work we do is actually not worth whatever the minimum wage is--what if my work is only worth $3 per hour--why do our legislators insist I earn $7.25 per hour? Here are the economic consequences:

1. They tried to mandate in the city of Chicago that any store over 70,000 square feet must pay high hourly wages with benefits--Walmart and Target promptly canceled plans to build stores in "underserved areas"

2. By requiring business to pay minimum wage, you give the incentive to corporations and small business to either outsource to another country or automate a position once occupied by a human.

3. I have learned that politicians are very bad economists and don't make very wise decisions. What do we need to do as citizens to make our legislators spend our tax dollars in a prudent way?

Hey if you can live on $3 an hour just give the over pay back to your employer. I'm sure you won't hear any complaints from them or better yet go find a homeless person and give them the other half of your paycheck.

This is the problem that we encounter.

Situation #1 Liberals lost the chance to have an underserved area like Chicago to get the stores it needs. People also signed up for interviews at 70 times the number of jobs available. No surprise that the companies pulled out. Who needs a corrupt government stealing from you.

Situation #2 This shows that mandating things like this destroy what they claim to protect.

Situation #3 Vote in a majority of conservative Republicans in both houses and get a Reagan type of President.

I will so enjoy the liberals on this one.

Well our government only has as much power as the people allow them to have. If you want to make a difference, try organizing a proposal and try to get heard.

I agree, there should not be a minimum wage. If you only produce 2-3 dollars an hour worth of work, I think I should be paying you that, opposed to 7 bucks or where ever the wage is set.

i think of you're appropriate. "minimum salary" is basically that - the minimum he's accepted to pay. i'd verify with somebody on your city/county/state employment value place of work -they're interior the telephone e book. do no longer permit him walk over you! He feels like a genuine a..! p.s. initiate looking around NOW for brand spanking new paintings..you do no longer would desire to be working for him or that corporation if his boss tolerates that.

NO ONE WHO WORKS FOR A LIVING SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN POVERTY!!!! Why do the Employers in America pay their workers poverty level wages? Both the Government and the employers in America have kept eight(8*) + million American workers in Poverty since 1997!!!! If they want to improve the lives of people working for poverty level wages then they will have to pay wages that will raise them out of Poverty!!! You can enrich others at the same time your enriching Yourself!!!! Pay them a fair and equitable wage!!! It's nothing short of immoral to not do so!!! An honest days pay for an honest days work is long overdue by the Government and the Employers in America!!! Especially by the Employers in this Country!!! To not do so is to keep them in perpetual Poverty!!!! Eight(8*)+ million!!! The value you place on your employees is the value you place on Yourself!!!!

The government mandates a minimum wage to keep us out of the poverty level. Besides, do you really think so lowly of yourself that you honestly believe your life is only worth $3.00 an hour? Pity.
