I'm thinking of becoming a doctor, . What qualifications/grades do I need? I'm top of my year and in the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth. How much money can I expect to earn? How long will I have to study for? I'm OK with hard work, but I want to travel around the world while I'm still fairly young. How much does medical school cost? Any other info would be great. Thanks!!

High School: Take all college Prep courses. Try to excel especially in the science courses.

College: Enrolled in the Pre-med cirriculum, with an emphasis on a degree in either Chemistry, or Biology. Make the best grades you can, because your GPA and your score on the Medical School Admissions Test [MCAT] will determin whether you will get into medical school.

4 years of Medical School, after which you will receive an MD degree upon graduation.

1Yr. internship at an accredited hospital, after which, if you want, you can be a general praticioner.

3-5 Year of Residency, if you want tocome a specialist.

Medical schools generally run about $20,000-50,000 a year.

With all the years of training to become a specialist, you will be in the hole for about at least about a $200,000.
