Way back in June my boss told me she'd give me a raise. I still haven't seen it. How can I ask her and make sure it actually happens? I am a graphic designer and I make $8.25 an hour. I still keep in touch with my college teacher and I told her what I did and she told me that I should easily be making at least $14/hour. How can I get them to "up" my pay so I can make what I deserve? My boss tells me I am a wonderful worker- why am I getting scammed?

My 61-year old female co-worker told me at age 43, it is too late in my life to make a career change and not follow my dreams to be a filmmaker, that I should just stay at the job I'm not happy in because at least, it's paying my bills. Is she right? She tells me my dreams will never get anywhere that I'm living in a fantasy world. I hear plenty of people's dreams that have come true because they went after it.

I find myself clicking on and off of black planet checking my notes and chatting with women while at work I think cause im bored. at home im rarly on my pc doing it. why is this? am I the only one who does this? and do you fill guilty doing it? I do.

I have been working in a job with heavy travel for 6 months now. I have asked my boss to transfer me to another department within the company because of personal circumstances that will not allow me to travel. They are now saying that I will basically have to be rehired into the company and that they may even temporarily let me go until a job becomes available.

My boss originally stated that I was refusing to do my job and I could be fired for that. Since then I have asked for work while I am waiting in the office for this to resolve itself and they have not given me any work to do.

I am in India. I filed H1 B Visa through a consultant, and got the approval letter from INS. I was employed when I blocked interview date at Mumbai Consulate, some 4 months ago. But I lost my job couple of months ago, and still now can not find another job. My interview date is nearing. But I am unemployed and no salary is credited for the past two months. I request you to clarify whether do I need to be in employment during the Consulate Interview.
