My thought is that it might not make sense to send a thank you note given that I will be meeting with them again in just a few business days. What do you think?

"Hey, can you come in and work for me?"

"No, sorry, I have to take my hamster to the hospital."

I know it was lame, if you have any good excuses, I'd love to hear them!

Anyone in HR care to answer? I live in Illinois and am a supervisor that is not happy with the direction my department is going at all. I've had a good work history with this company (almost three years with them), and have no real marks on my record in the time I've been there. But the current situation is:

-A position in another department (higher paying, more challenging, much better oppurtunity overall) has recently opened up, but I'm sure my manager would not allow me to transfer. If I were to tell him that I will be looking for a job outside the company otherwise, I'm thinking that he would realize there is no point in trying to trap me in my current department. But could my employer take any adverse actions against me knowing that I'm looking elsewhere if they really wanted to take the gloves off? FWIW, I am ~85% sure that I would have the job is my manager oks the transfer.

Patient confidentiality?
When I first started working at the pharmacy, I didn't get my prescriptions there. Last month I got some prescriptions there since there is only 1 other pharmacy in town. Well you are required to give your phone number and address with the prescription. Ever since then, my boss and even other techs in the pharmacy have been calling me up to 3 times a week, harassing me until I come in to work extra hours. It didn't happen until I got prescriptions and gave them my phone number. Aren't the patient profiles supposed to be confidential? Is what they're doing legal?

PS I went in the computer and changed my phone number to my mom's house so they can't get ahold of me anymore.

Does anyone know anything about meterologists in Canada? What kind of money do they make? Is the demand high or low? I can't seem to find anything, I'd really appreciate any information.

I am going to an Ivy League med school. I'm doing really well (even though my school is pass/fail, I'm at the top of my class). It's just that I have no real interest in medical research (but I always have to pretend I do) and I hate saying that medicine is my passion & that I find it so rewarding & fascinating (as you always have to do in essays, etc) when it's not true.
I really love more artistic things like classical music and fine arts. It's just that I have always been afraid of not finding a job, (which would be hard in the art field) or winding up like my parents (with dead end jobs).

I also have a huge fear of "catching" AIDS, etc. and I know if sounds bad but when we have to do volunteer work in homeless shelters or drug clinics, I am going to be terrified to take blood, etc.
When I graduate, I could always work at a college of medicine, and not actually practice. Or something else that doesn't provoke my fear of blood/AIDS.
Should I continue or is my career doomed?

Recently my boss at work has been mixing Reeses peanut butter cups in with his morning milkshake. Not only that, but I saw him watching "Whose Line Is It Anyway" on ABC. Can I legally sue him for sexual harassment?

I have a good chance of getting hired, but need to take a physical exam for the Dept. of Transportation being I'll be driving company vehicles. I know there will be a drug test involved, and I have nothing to worry about, but I have a fear of needles, and was wondering will they take blood, or just urine? Also hear they could take a folical of hair.....does anybody know the process of an exam like this?

I am very creative and have notebooks full of advertising ideas for different companies. I am working on my degree in management and will be finished in May of 2008. I am over thirty and a stay at home mom. I have enjoyed writing since I was a kid and have been told I should persue this career. I would love to find a company on-line that submits work to different companies. Radio and website ads would be fun too!

There is one individual, who is sleeping with one of the HR reps. He went to her with lies about me and a co-worker. It turned into a huge deal with upper management. So much so, that the co-worker was told to stay away from me. I talked to my boss and he said not to worry about it. We let time pass, and now we have started to go to lunch again. The HR rep saw us, a group of people mind you, and is stirring things up again. What to do? We have been singled out, and I'm sick of it!!

My boss keeps breaking the law, not giving me a lunch break, making me work every night from 1pm-10pm, and just not being a fair person. I had to have surgery so I left for 6 weeks, he was fine before that but when I got back he was bitter and giving me this whack schedule, I used to have the same schedule every week but now he scattered it around so I can never plan anything! Ever since I got back he's been a total jerk and I can't quit because I have bills to pay and no other job will hire me with the same pay I'm getting now. I would go to the district manager and complain but him and my boss are buddies.. What do I do??? And he's doing this to almost all my other co-workers!
