Is it ok to leave your date of birth off your CV / resume?

... bearing in mind possible age discrimination

... or is something that should always be added.

What does the law say here?

If you're unemployed for awhile and don't receive many responses from jobs you're qualified for and have applied to, is it sensible to dumb down your resume and apply for lesser positions?

Hello!
I am interested in persuing a career path in the Financial Planning field. I am 26 now, and currently a Financial Planner in a Fortune 50 company. However, I'm questioning whether I want to work in corporate America all my life, or if I want to persue a career path in more "private" financial planning - mainly for individuals.

So for those of you who are Financial Planners right now - whats it like? What are the best aspects...and the worst aspects....of your job? Is getting the CFP worth it - or is an MBA more valuable? I'm questioning right now which path to take - 1) get an MBA or 2) get a CFP ($$ is not an issue since my company will pay for my full education).

Any insight you could provide into the field would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Also, what could your boss (or another person who gives you work to do) do to cause you to like him or her more? (And, please, ignore the obvious things that only a relatively high-up person could do such as give raises or extra time off.)

Thanks for your input!

I was wondering if you have to go through fire traing to become an EMT. Like to become a paramedic you have to go through the fire fighter training then the medic classes. So do you have to go through the same traing just less time ?

I have 18 years of experience as a sales professional and sales manager. I've also sent my resume to executive search companies with little success. Thank you for your help.

I hae taken a career break of two years to have kids and previously worked as an engineer for 5 years. I have an excellent degree, and don't seem to have an issuegetting an interview. I do however, don't seem to do well in the technical part, and feel really stupid. I think I do well in all other areas. The problem is once I leave the tech interview, I think of another 100 logical and obvious items I miss out.... I don't know why I blank when I see a formal test. I know subject and I feel I would be very competent in my work. I was always really good at exams and tests in my school days. anybody know things that could help? hypnosis?

I've been working with a company for 4 years now, starting as a fresher. To be fair, they've provided me with a couple of good breaks (after the usual politics and disappointments!). However, I want to change the job now since I feel my potential is yet to be tapped and also that I am worth more than the current CTC. The problem is that they will not accept my resignation citing the rare good things they've done for me, expecting loyalty. I can however claim relocation or my non-existent wedding(!) as an excuse for a smooth exit. What do you suggest?

I really need some help with regards to a work matter, I suppose I should start at the beginning...

Ok, so last year i had 17 days off work ranging from Jan 06 - Nov 06. I understand that this is an excessive amount, but due to personal issues the absences were unavoidable. I did apologise to my boss and have assured him this would not be an ongoing thing. However, yesterday (18/01/07) i was called into my bosses office and I was told that as a result of my un-authorised absences, my boss was to deduct 12 days worth of pay from my wage over 4 months (I’m paid monthly) and also take 5 days holiday from my annual holiday entitlement.
He gave me a letter to sign to say that i understood & agreed with what he proposed to do, I did not sign this letter as I feel that taking money from my wage for days off I had over 11 months ago is not only morally wrong but I also believe it to be unlawful, as with taking my holiday days, as I am entitled to them by law!

Any info will be a big help
