Everyone says the best way to prepare for the future is to go to college right out of high school. Is this the best option?

I think so too!

To build a career for your own in this competitive world, you've got to be up for the competition. College would grand you some assets for that.. But u still need more, u need 2 read a lot, try to get summer training / or work through college if you can, in a relevant field.

For a career, u have to be in continuous learning process. College is a step towards that, a v important one!

Wish you all the best

"The best way." Hmmm... There is no best way for everyone. I would say that unless you have strong reasons for delaying college it will be easier to go right out of school. If you have reasons, whether family, financial, military, etc., it is not the end of the world to wait--but it can raise potential difficulties.

First, before you go to college, ensure that you are not blindly choosing a major. You do not have to declare a major for a while, in most cases, but... DO NOT graduate with a degree that you have not chosen YOURSELF based on something that you are passionate about. Successful, happy people are most often engaged in careers that they enjoy. It is a myth that happiness comes from high paying jobs; that's a trap.

Now, hurdles you will face if you delay... It is hard to get in the swing of things, studying, etc., once you stop. It is hard to take focus off of an adult life (job, girlfriend or even new family, adult friends, credit cards and other debt, etc.) and start school. Change is very difficult. Be careful, as once you forego college, it will be very difficult to take the leap.

It is up to you and your finances. If you cannot afford full-time college, you may want to consider getting a job and going to school part-time in the evenings. It takes much longer to complete college this way, but at the same time, you are not racking up the debt like your friends will be doing off at school. The biggest benefit, is that when you do finish your college, you will already have a resume, where your friends will only have their college education (which most employers dont focus too much on)

You will hear the following answer far too often but it is so true.

I so wish I had gone to college after high school. I would have had to work my way through because I came from a rather poor family, so I blew it off.

College just doesn't bring knowledge, it's meeting new people, going to new places, being on your own, and begins the setting for your future.

Go to college if you can. Work through if you have too, but go. Even in college, the opportunities that come your way can be endless if you just open your mind and look for them.

Go to college now before you accumulate too much responsibility.

My employer does not offer decent jobs to those without college degrees.

Some people make it without college. I don't know the actual stats but I would guess those with a degree end up living a better financial life than those that don't.

I am 38 and wish, wish, wish I had gone to college out of HS but I did not. I am currently pursuing my Degree but still have some time to go and I am a mom to 2 very young children. Do it now while you are young. Education is very important regardless of the field you pursue. I wish I had done it earlier in life.

If you have the means to go to college you should go and don't quit until you have a degree.
