I was wondering if you have to go through fire traing to become an EMT. Like to become a paramedic you have to go through the fire fighter training then the medic classes. So do you have to go through the same traing just less time ?

because i want to become an Emt or Paramedic but paramdeic mean that you have harder and longer school time. So i was wondering if an EMT had to do the same training as fire fighters, like the paramedics do ?

I have been a firefighter since 2002 and an EMT since 2003. You can be a First Responder, EMT-Basic, or EMT-A dvance with no fire training. Get with your local EMT office (ask your local FD where) and ask them about upcoming trainings. This is a great career and well worth the time put into training.
