Yes you can, but they deduct your child's maintenance and any other income (including child benefit which everyone including millionaires get paid - how unfair is that?) from your JSA so that if your maintenance is more than the JSA you won't get anything, but you'd still probably get the no council tax and the free prescriptions and help with rent so it's worth applying for.

Why not google Job Seekers Allowance and see if you actually qualify first Job seekers allowance is either income based or contribution based. so have you contributed via national insurance contributions, have you earned an income at all Please don't assume you will qualify if you have never worked or contributed to the system The job centre will not find you a job, that is for you to do via job websites, local businesses, adverts etc All they can do is make sure you are looking for work and it is up to you to do the rest Get to work on your C.V, just now, get some experience even through doing some voluntary work You certainly can't get JSA if you are at school or full time at college.

you will be able to claim jobseekers but your maintenance that you receive is taken into account, for example, if you receive £50 per week jobseekers and £45 per week maintenance, you will still only receive £50 per week jobseekers as they take any other income into account, and the maintenance pays your benefits instead of the state. It's unfair but thats the way it is unfortunately. Not that I'm suggesting this of course, but if u r oin good terms with your ex, u could ask him to pay u directly in cash and not let on2 the benefits office

ANY income that you have will be taken into account when your claim is calculated. If the amount you receive in maintenance takes you over the government limit allowed for yourself and your children then you wont get any benefits - or they can reduce the amount accordingly. Put in a claim and see what they say - you've nothing to lose xxx

If you are actively seeking work you are entitled to claim jobseekers. You may find that they take into account any others monies you receive.
You should contact your local jobcentre and ask. They have specialist advisers for lone parents, they will assist you.

Yes you can however they may deduct the amount you get for maintenence off the amount that you would normally be entitled to. if you get the maintenence in cash and not through the bank i'd say nothing about it.
