My thought is that it might not make sense to send a thank you note given that I will be meeting with them again in just a few business days. What do you think?

Personally I would. Why?

1. The person who'll interview you for the 2nd round might not be the same as the person whom you interviewed with today.
2. It shows class and professionalism.
3. It gives you an opportunity to show your strengths that you forgot to emphasize during the interview.

At the end, what do you have to lose?
If your interviewer doesn't expect you to write a thank you note and you do, the worst thing is that you'll come across as eager (and employers like eager employees)
However if the interviewer do expect you to write a thank yo note and you don't, you'll come across as unprofessional.

Invest in the letter.
If you just do what everyone else is doing, how would you stand out from the crowd?

Never send a thank you note for a job interview.

No, just be sure to be on time, and look good. Be alert, and make alot of eye contact. Show them you will be able to handle anything, by your demeanor. Smile, and shake the hand that meets you, thank again with a firm handshake before you leave.
GOOD LUCK, THINK POSITIVELY. Niki

Ya, it would look like you were begging for the custodian job.
