Hello,
I'm on my way to define what course to choose. I'm studing wright now at my hometown, the capital of Lithuania - Vilnius. My course is Automatics (electrical & electronics engineering). I'm on my 3-rd semester already. But I'm completely not satisfied fith the way of teaching, with facilities, and many more. So I sereously decided to go for studies in UK.
And now... I'm stucked. I don't know which course to choose.
There is only 2 of them that I consider:
a) Engineering and management
b) Business and management

What would you suggest me to choose? I want to get a good job right at the time I graduate (~40k pounds) and I think would take less my time.

P.S. At the moment I have got a lot of engineering knowledge, so it won't be as hard for me as it would be if I hadn't.
A HUGE thank you for all your answers! Appreciate it..

I live in jersey and am currently wondering whether or not my job is handling things legally.

I'm given 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, however i always turn up short of 40 hours, even tho 3 out of 5 days i stay 1-2 hours late.

I asked about it and was told that its because i only work 7 1/2 hours a day, with 30 minute breaks deducted from pay.

I'm wondering if people are supposed to *get* paid breaks.

My relative is a lady in her 50's who hasn't worked for at least 20-25 years. When she last worked, she was a travel agent. Now, she needs to get back into the working world because of financial difficulties, but she's had trouble finding a job for the obvious reasons. She has no degree (except for one in fashion design from years ago, but her eyesight won't allow her to be a seamstress anymore). What do you think would be some better career choices for an intelligent woman in her 50's with only minimal computer skills? I know, it's very tough.

Hence they propose redducing staff numbers by 25% but potentially employing 3 new staff to improve their skills base. How would you advise the partners approach the issue of reducing staff numbers? what relevant employment law would they need to consider when engaging new staff?

Lately at work (I work in the hotel industry), our scores have been really low. My front office manager came to me tonight and told me that I really need to start paying attention because I am making simple mistakes. She also said she is talking to everyone, I am not the only one. It just made me feel REALLY low and worthless. Anyone else gone through this and felt this way? I need cheering up guys. Nice answers need only apply. Thank you!!

Recently we had to decide whether to buy a new product at the expense of some products which have overlapping functions. The new product offered better features and wider functions at a higher cost, and most customers like it. Because of that, we bought it. Some colleagues were not happy as they have less on their plate as a result. I think we made a good decision because it's based on what customer needs, rather than what the staff think. Sometimes we can easily put our own interests first.

Here are my attributes:
- I like building things
- I like working with tools
- I like putting some "art" in my work
- I prefer working indoors
- I can do limited heights (roof of a 3 story house is the max)
- I wouldnt mind noise, dust, and limited physical labour... as I'm not a 250 lb muscle guy.

What skilled trade is best for me? Pls help me decide. Thanks.

If so, would this mean that I should have at least five different shirts? Is it really a requirement or a good taste to do so? I know that I probably wouldn't be fired, but what would be your advice?
Thank you.

i'm always nice to everyone but will not engage in a conversation with just anyone. I have a problem with certain people 'cause they aren't/ or don't want to be smart enough to get it. what do you do in such cases because the thing is that they will ignore you next time. instead of saying hi they'll just ignore you which I don't mind but I find it stupid if someone's pretending not to see you and you two are like in the same room and then I'll be the one saying hello to them.

like I said I'm always polite but others have a problem when they realize you don't want them any closer than that. this can be esp. bad if you come from a small town and it can unfortunately damage your career prospects 'cause where I come from people are not professional.

thanks
