Training in Medical Transcription
Medical transcriptionists transform the oral dictation of healthcare providers into written text for print or electronic storage. If you're great with words, self-disciplined, and a bit of a perfectionist, you'll be a great medical transcriber.
What You'll Learn in Online Medical Transcription Courses
Your transcription courses will focus on medical language, including the Greek and Latin roots of medical terms. You'll develop a working knowledge of medical practices, too. This can include:
Anatomy and physiology
Diseases
Pharmacology
Lab work
You'll need to understand medical documents like patient histories, examination records, consultations, and discharge papers. In order to produce official medical records, you'll have to understand medical law as well. Develop your computer skills, too. Your medical transcription courses should prepare you to take the Certified Medical Transcriptionist exam.
Your Medical Transcription Career
Once you've got your CMT, you'll join the fast-growing healthcare field. Medical transcription specialists have great job security. You'll have the opportunity to work with other transcriptionists, continually honing your medical language skills on the job. Flexible work schedules and potential geographic mobility might induce you to enter the exciting field of medical transcription. You'll have to keep up with constantly changing medical technology, but the challenge is part of the fun of this well-paying, smart career path.

My suggestion is to call future employers, places you want to work and ask them what they recommend for you for training. Don't waste money going to a school or doing an online program that turns out to be useless because no employer respects it.
