I work in an office and they have decided the office needs to be open on holidays. Currently they are getting volunteers to work the holidays but if that fails they will schedule them. I feel enough is enough and holidays should be just that. Business has too much control over us. When events like 911 happen we are in the dark with no radio or tv to keep us alert. I think it is sad that we are letting big business control everything and our families have to suffer. What are your thoughts?

I recently resigned, giving my employer 2 weeks notice. I was asked to leave that day because I am going to a competitor. I asked if the 2 weeks was paid out and my HR rep said no. I have since heard that they are required to pay that to the employee as long as they are not fired. Is this true?

my worst was when i did a great job interveiw , and clear it successfully., i was told by my employer i had cleared interveiw, but that the job position was temporary on a hold, so took that as maybe something had went wrong, even though my employer said everything was good, i thought i had enough time to go to my country, and visit relatives. but made huge misstake the company called me into job to start but i was not in town, i could have killed my self they could not wait on me, so filled the position with some one else... whats yours?.

Jobs that earn mid to high wages are safe and friendly places to work with a few benefits such as perks and health care (this is not necessarily important but would be nice) (the perks and benefits) and with no experience necessary types of jobs not the jobs themselves.

I work in the I.T. field and have been working with the current global company for 19 months. My boss has given me a lot of opportunities to advance. The entire I.T. team, my boss and I really get a long. However, I don't really like the company; perhaps the reason is it's a private firm, and they like they do things the way they want but not following any corporate standard. Especially, the CEO's son, I hate him to death. He's a prick, and everyone in the company knows that. Back in May, I resigned because I had enough of the place; I was overworked - non stop BB messages 24/7. I left the company for a week, but I returned the following week. My boss and I had spoken a lot to get things worked out; things did get better. Now, I got two guys to help with local office stuff. But, I can't stop having the feeling that I hate this company - the way how the company operates , but CEO's son and etc. I feel like leaving the company again and not return.I don't want to do this to my boss

Im trying to get a job with an insurance company. The job responsibilities will be processing auto insurance claims, They will be doing a background check. I have a clean criminal history, employment history and i dont even drive to have a driving record The only thing is I have 2 past due accounts on my credit report, will i still be offered the job? or will they withdraw their offer

I am a Legal Secretary - very experienced having worked in Crown Court, Magistrates Court, Civil, Matrimonial and Personal Injury?

I live in the North West region of the UK (Blackpool).

Thinking about getting another job as I can't afford to stay on the wages I am on and I doubt very much that my current employers will put my wages up.

My girlfriend started working for a company for work experience 3 months ago. They agreed to pay travel expenses, and thats all. However from the start it wasn't 'real' work experience, but a proper job. She does all the office work (together with another work experience girl) whilst the 2 owners spend most of the day out. There was a day last week where she the only one in all day with one owner on holiday, and the other taking the day off to watch his son play golf. Here are the facts:

-She HAS to be there for 10am everyday and work till 5pm
-She can only go out to get lunch if someone else is in the office, which isn't everyday.
-They increase the weekly 'travel expenses' to £75, which is no longer travel expenses, but payment & WELL below minimum wage.

She is leaving in 2 weeks anyway but I know they'll just hire someone else and do the exact same thing. She says she doesn't mind, but I feel there's a 'stockholm syndrome' type thing going on with misplaced loyalty.

10 years or so, but each time I try to do the same kind of work in a legal setting, I can't get anywhere. Why is this? I've tried agencies and applied for permanent roles, but still nowhere.
