Some is because women who have children often get out of the workforce for awhile, so have less experience, or work less hours.
Some is because many women tend to be less into negotiating salary, and/or are willing to accept less..
Some is because traditionally men were the wage-earners, and that attitude has not totally died out.
It's getting better, and many companies do have equal pay for men and women. But still has a way to go.

There are two sides to this argument. The wage gap being an inequality in a negative way is from feminists with the notion that women are perpetually oppressed, so any example of women not having what men have will be perceived as oppression being the root cause. Take into consideration other factors like hours worked (women on average work fewer), breaks in work history (women on average have more), and who does the lion's share of tough, dirty, dangerous, and high paying as a result occupations (men if you haven't figured it out). Different studies will yield different results. If you're that interested in the subject, do the research yourself and form your own conclusion rather than letting others do it for you.

I think has something to do with different factors like insurence and things... For instance, you can take this into consideration, that males in before the age of 25 have higher car insurance rates. To me that seems unfair since females are lower.
I suppose thats based on statistics or something ?
Anyways, i think has a lot to do with insurance and things. Its not becouse males are better and females suck. Its just based on how much men have to be insured and things i think. So im sure it evens out in the end.
That would be a good question to just run through a search engine like Google, cuz you could find a professional article on such an enquiry.
Aight, later! hope that gives you something to atleast think about :)

If you are looking at all men vs all women, it's because men generally choose career paths that are more lucrative. for example, look at all the male lawyers and female teachers.
If you are looking at the same position, it is because men are more likely to sacrifice the family duties in favor of furthering their position at work. Women take nearly twice the number of sick days, but it's usually for when their child is sick. It doesn't matter why they are taking them however in the eyes of their supervisors. All the boss knows is that Johnny was ALWAYS there when he needed him, so Johnny gets the promotion, not Jane. Also, Johnny is better able to play the office politics to make himself look even better, because Johnny is there, in his boss's face every opportunity he gets.
Also, men are much more likely to turn down an unfavorable offer than women.

I don't know if that's really true especially if a company has a salary range clearly stated. If you would like to be the exception, simply negotiate for a higher salary. You have the right to refuse a job offer. I was offered a certain salary and simply asked if they were able to make it (higher). They agreed without hesitation. You won't get more unless you ask for it.
