I was offered a job on 6/23 by the president of a company. I spoke with the person who interviewed me on 6/26 and accepted the position. However, let them know that I would be off 6 week in Oct for a pre-scheduled surgery. She advised that she would have to discuss this with the company president and get back to me because any benefits would not kick in for 3 mths. So far I have heard nothing. I was to start work on July 10.

Have I been given the brush off or what???

Money came up missing from my drawer and I believe that a member of management either didn't count the money correctly or took the money. I was not given the opportunity to count the money and I wasn't informed that money was missing until 4 days later. They do have the ability to inform you while you're counting your drawer if it's short or over, but it's not REQUIRED that they tell you.

I was just hired to work for MRI and am very excited about the potential income. However, I read on a message board that MRI is a scam and that it is like selling Mary-Kay or used cars, and that I'll never make any money.
On the other hand, I can't find anything negative at all on the Web about working for MRI. Everyone seems to like it.
Any inside knowledge would be awesome. Are you a recruiter for another company? What does MRI's competition have to say about it?

Thanks!

My husband and I will be moving to Sacramento, CA soon from Russia. We know there are resources for new immigrants, but don't know how to tap into them, especially in finding an employer who is sympathetic to English not being the first language. My husband is able to understand English fairly well, but he feels very awkward in speaking or if others speak very fast in English, he cannot catch the whole concept. He is a very good worker, very conscientious, but he is somewhat fearful that he will not be able to find a job because of his language skills. Please, if anyone knows of services that are available to us in the Sacramento area, let us know. Thanks.

I have searched jobs online, but many ads seem to be for telemarketers or food service, which don't interest me.

my brother was falsely accused of something in his work and in the heat of the moment said that he would resign. I have since told him this was maybe a bit hasty but I am wondering if his employer could hold this resignation as fully binding. He works in education and has currently been suspended on full pay but if he resigns he will forgo his holiday pay over the summer - this is why I think he should not have resigned as maybe they would have offered to pay this in order for him to go quietly rather than causing the fuss of an investigation in to what he allegedly did.

I just started a job a month ago at a company that had an office where I used to live before I moved to this town. At the old office, I held a higher position than I have at the moment. But because my work is good, and I seem to know what I am doing, I was promoted last week. Now, however, there are quite a few people who have their nose out of joint because I was promoted so quickly even though I feel I do deserve it considering all the stuff I know and I know how to do almost every aspect of this job. I don't want to be discriminated against because of my knowledge but it is getting to me that people don't like me because of this but I don't want to give up my promotion (which, i said I deserve) just so people will like me. I am a nice person and if they would spend the time to get to know me, they would realize that and come to know that I am a great asset to the company. How can I handle their jealousy diplomatically?

Thanks

I have been put on the carpet by my supervisor and threatened with termination for insubordination because I would not got to work on a day that I was not scheduled to work, not on the clock and called at home halfway through the workday that I was being ordered to work on. Is this insubordination? Is this a legal standing for termination?
