You're right on the money. Hehehe. Yes, we like to shamelessly buy things that we don't actually have the money for, get ourselves into bottomless debt, then work our lives away with no regard for our families or our sanity just to pay off our charged-up credit cards. Then we have time for nothing else so we get stressed out and are rude and drive like maniacs. Did that answer your question?

Not sure that it matters what you make or that employers deliberately keep the wages low. What I found out the people will spend according to what they make and with to many Americans they will spend more than they make and require overtime to get by or just go further into debt. And yes the no payment gimmicks work with a lot of people. In fact I have used it often, but I just consider that I'm using there money and always pay it off before they charge any interest or fees.

I work as many hours as I do because I have bills and a family to feed (soon a family of 3). They will rely on me and my wages to keep them warm, happy, and fed. It's my duty as the head of the household.

No I work long hours just because it's something to do.

Of course I work to pay my bills. One day I will win the lottery and will take a long vacation.

Capitalism, thats how it works. Rich shareholders will benefit while the average American work till death. However, is far much better than living under any other econopolitical model.

I think most of us work because we have to, otherwise we have no way to live decently. If they cut the average America work week down a few hours, I'd more than welcome it.
