I was offered a job on 6/23 by the president of a company. I spoke with the person who interviewed me on 6/26 and accepted the position. However, let them know that I would be off 6 week in Oct for a pre-scheduled surgery. She advised that she would have to discuss this with the company president and get back to me because any benefits would not kick in for 3 mths. So far I have heard nothing. I was to start work on July 10.

Have I been given the brush off or what???

You need to show some innitiative and call them back to confirm the arrangements of the agreed upon date. If it does fall through you may want to decline to mention the surgery with the next job offer until you are actually working , then just act as if it just came up (like a month or so before it is scheduled to happen)

take incentive call them go see them you may bug them but you should not care i mange an office there are people we don't like that apply but Persistence does say something but the bad news now if you still have a job i would be shocked no one likes to hear about a new employee taking time off in the first year much less before they start work it has been a week you better follow up that might help fight for the job the only way you are going to get it

You got the brush off.they don't want a new employee who needs off 6 weeks for surgery. You may be a liability to them.

Call the company HR Dept. back and or the potential boss...

You shouldn't have said anything, but I think that you won't here from them again, unless you call, where they will most likely give you the run around!!

Good luck!

Call back immediately. Don't let them off the hook..they owe you a solid decision.
