Is it true that you have to be out of work for at least two weeks before you can apply for unemployment?

My friend and her boyfriend broke up in April of 2007. Her boyfriend signed a document releasing her from being tied to the lease at that time. She moved out, and her boyfriend stayed in the apartment alone until the the lease ended in September of 2007. Now, a collection agency is trying to collect $250.00 from her for damages/cleaning costs for the apartment.

Wouldn't her boyfriend alone be responsible for the cleaning costs? Should she dispute this debt? Or is their some weird law indicating that everybody who stayed in the apartment is responsible for cleaning costs even though they didn't stay for the duration of the lease? The apartment is located near Phoenix, Arizona. Please advise.

Ok, right now I have a job that pays pretty good considering I have no bills. The thing is I will be going off to college (for the 3rd time, don't ask) and I won't have time for a job. So in the next eight months I need to come up with a steady flow of income. Not asking for much, $150 to $200 will be enough. I have about $5,000 for start up and eight months to build it. I have web design capabilities (not enough to build others websites so that is not a possibility), but enough to start my own if it is ecommerce. I enjoy sports and video games but will build anything that can earn some money while in school. Any ideas?

A friend of mine ordered some blankets from Dillards. They charged her the tax after the subtotal and the shipping were included in the bill. Is this correct or not?

If I have any money at all, I waste it on stupid stuff I don't need. I try not going out to stores and stuff, but then I end up on amazon.com or some other site using my credit card. I even signed up for a website today that will probably never use again and spent 30 bucks on it, just because I wanted to see how it worked. This hasn't screwed me yet, but I have a feeling that eventually I'm going to get stuck with a crap load of debt (which I'm sort of already in) and bad credit (some how I still have good credit). How do I get more discipline on my spending habits so I don't bounce checks and have money for stuff I really need, like bills and gas?

In 2005 I got a loan and settled my credit cards for less than I actually owed them. The other day I got a bill from the irs saying that the difference between what I paid the credit card company and what I actually owed was considered taxable income and the taxes I owed added up to $2000.
I am flat broke living paycheck to paycheck and don't have and maybe never will have the money to pay this off. I could do the payment plan but I can't afford to have another payment each month to pay this off. The only thing I saw on the irs website is a offer in compromise but that takes a $150 fee to apply. What should I do? PLEASE HELP !!!

My tennent has left (lease ended and they moved on) and my building is now vacant. I am pretty sure that I will have a new commercial tennent in a few months. I'm in talks with a few people and one is very likely to take it. But even if I end up waiting a long time I am unconcerned.

For the safety and security of the premises what should I do?

Is it wise to cover the windows up so passers by can't see everything inside?

Its in a well lit, downtown area. But I have seen people cover windows up before so I am curious to know if this is a good idea and an important thing to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I lost about four grand in the stock market this year and was wondering if I can claim that towards my income like medical bills or child day care?

I mean, I would have to claim any money I earned and cashed out on this years taxes, just wondering if it works the opposite way.

Thanks,

We want a life insurance that is not to high monthly and will really help one another out if one of us were to die, becuase we dont really have family that would step in and take care of things, im thinking 100,000

I want to move to Mexico, around April or so my father lives there and I would like to spend some time with him also I am 26 years old and at a point in life that I want to grow on my own. The dilemma is that I have a job where I am very much needed. I am a full time nanny, when I got hired they told me that they needed some one permanent and that won't quit on them in a couple of months. I totally love my job and I feel very appreciate it there and they also treat me very good. I don't know how to bring it up to them and tell them my plans. I just feel the need to get out of here and find myself and to me that is the best option. Please no b.s I am grown and know what I do with my life. I would really appreciate it if people would be serious about my question.

i have some online site charging me $1.95 a month for some memebership thing, but i have cancelled it a long time ago, and even cancelling it was a hassle. they gave me so much difficulty that i had to call 3 times to cancel it but they still charge me that small monthly fee. it seems they do not want to un-sign me up. can i report my debit card lost or stolen or get the number changed so that they would not charge me anymore?

Say I have a dependent on my health insurance. She had several doctor appointments that were paid (minus a copay) by this insurance. But she was living with a relative for more than 9 months of the year and they want to claim her on taxes. Will my insurance company deem her no longer a dependent because of this and require me to repay them for those appointments during that year?
