Me and my husband have 6 months left on our apartment lease but we are in the process of buying a home.
Has any one ever heard of there apartment management letting them out of there lease? even if you give them like 2 month notice?

As it was a one year lease, the landlord is holding all the cards on whether you can break it or not. If they agree you are golden. If not, you are stuck.

worse case scenario is that you will continue to owe rent until they get the place re-rented. Best case scenario is that they agree to let you out of the lease without any further obligations. Sometimes you end up in the middle with just a forfeitures of the security deposit. Talk to them and try to work it out.

Good Luck

Sometimes you will have a buyout clause in the lease. Most will not. However talk it over with your management and let them know of your plans to purchase a home and beware of the escrow delays so you wont be out in the cold when escrow has not closed as promised.
They must diligently put your apartment up for rent so you may leave under those conditions. Also you may try putting an ad in Craig`s List yourself to advertise it. Ask the management if this would be OK first. You do not need to step on toes here.
You may be surprised that they already know of your new home purchase.

Your lease will specify exactly what you have to pay to break it. Usually you lose your deposit at a minimum. Read your lease and then talk to the landlord and try to barter. If your apartment is very, very clean and you use a great deal of charm, you may strike a deal with them. But I'll bet it will cost you. . .
