I've been working in retail for only a few months now as a casual worker, but over the past few weeks the amount of shifts I am rostered on for has increased hugely. Usually I wouldn't complain about the extra cash, but the shiftload has become life-consuming (shifts are nine hours long and I commute one and a half hours to and from my job). To make matters worse, the store I work in is tiny, messy and extremely busy. In fact the only thing keeping me at this job is that the store is an extremely prestigious one and that my working there makes me cool. :)
I think one of the main reasons I am getting so many shifts is that I am good at my job and I'm quite young and as such my pay is lower.
Anyway, from tommorow onwards, I am working for eight days straight. I'm now working more than most of the permanent staff whom I work with, and for less money.
My question is; is it legal for someone of my working status to be rostered on as much as I am?
I really don't want to quit - I need money.

Most of the things in life we pay for more with our hard earned money goes toward the principle except the house payment. Please someone explain why. Thanks in advance and have a great new year.

I am thinking of buying the house that i will be in for 20+ years. I am scared that if I rent out the house that I am in now, and the renter does not pay the rent will the bank foreclose on my new house as well as the old one? How do i protect the new house? Is there any way to shelter the new house from being taken away? such as LLC or any other option out there? I live in california.

I was checking stocks today, because I have been keeping a close eye on Washington Mutual for various reasons and I stumbled upon a second Washington Mutual stock labeled WMUTP, that was created this month. However, I can't find any information in relation to what it actually is.

Approximately 1980, my parents deeded our home to me with a life estate for themselves. Upon father's death, 2001 the house was mine. Valued at about 90k then, I sold it at 63k early this year/2007. The estate was not large enough to pay any taxes and I am a direct heir if that is relevant. Where does this fit in federal income taxes? A quick websearch was not assuring and I have never received IRS answers that matched. Thanks for any self-help direction you can provide. I do my own taxes.

Hi, I need a little help answering this one. My roomate has been here 4 months, he filled out an application with the landlord when he moved in to make him official here. But we never signed a new Rental agreement together. today is 12/24/07, and he just told me he's moving out 12/31/07, which doesn't leave me enough time to find someone to help pay for next months rent. Does he have to give me and the landlord 30 days notice, and can he be held responsible for his portion of the rent until I find a new roomie since he never gave his notice legally? please help me!

I am sending a resume and a cover letter via email first time in my life. But, I have three questions to ask....
Could somebody help me out?

1. Should I attach a cover letter as a word document, or should it be a body of the email?
2. If I should send the cover letter as a word document, what should I write on the body of email?
2. What is the appropriate title of this email?

Thanks!!
