I am a college student trying to establish credit and build my credit score. I just applied for an Express (the fashion store) credit card online. I did not get approved instantly. Instead, I got a message on my screen saying that my application is under review and I would be notified in 7 to 10 days. Do I still have a shot at being approved? Or is this the "nice way" of saying that I didn't get approved?

Please help. I really want to start building my credit, but I can't get a credit card at any store because I don't have any credit.
:(

My wife recently got her employment authorization and is looking for a job. She has a masters in Structural engineering and has 2+ years of experience in STAAD, AutoCAD and finite element analysis in the design and construction of ASH/SILO systems used in Thermal Power plants.

We looked for jobs in various job sites such as monster, yahoo, indeed etc. There are very few openings. I know that knowledge of STAAD combined with AutoCAD is a very good asset for a structural engineer. I just think that we are looking at wrong place. Since she is new to the country she does not know where stuructural engineering oppurtunities are posted.

We currently live in Atlanta, GA but are willing to relocate. If any of you know opportunities or atleast places where they are posted, please share.

TIA

One of our competitor has it's stock going downwards as their product sales have declined in 2007. However they have managed to get honored by a publication that has given them an award for having the right strategies in place to grow in 2008. Is such an award valid. Do honors such as "Cool Company" from Gartnere, "Company's to Watch", "RedHerring Top 100" are misleading honors from publications or can a publication do what it pleases when honoring companies?

I bought a refrigerator in May 2007 and have 12 months to pay it off on my Sears credit card. I've paid for about half of it. Even though I still have a balance, can I depreciate it in my 2007 taxes or should I be expensed because I'm paying for it on my credit card (no interest financing for 12 months)? Does it have to be fully paid off this year before I can depreciate it in 2007?

PC Magazine reviews a number of products and give one product the "Best Product" award. Unfortunately that is our competitors. However the magazine uses it's own review criteria and gives award. We believe if the products are reviewed with our methodology, we will be better than our competitors. Is there a case that the award the mag gave is not valid or does the mag have full rights to award they way they choose?
