My wife recently got her employment authorization and is looking for a job. She has a masters in Structural engineering and has 2+ years of experience in STAAD, AutoCAD and finite element analysis in the design and construction of ASH/SILO systems used in Thermal Power plants.

We looked for jobs in various job sites such as monster, yahoo, indeed etc. There are very few openings. I know that knowledge of STAAD combined with AutoCAD is a very good asset for a structural engineer. I just think that we are looking at wrong place. Since she is new to the country she does not know where stuructural engineering oppurtunities are posted.

We currently live in Atlanta, GA but are willing to relocate. If any of you know opportunities or atleast places where they are posted, please share.

TIA

BTW, she is looking for a entry level / junior engineer position. Unlike in united states, interviews she has attended mainly dealt with academic questions. It would be nice to know what technical questions she can expect in a Junior/Entry level structural engineer position.

TIA

One way is to find a list of engineering companies (try yellowpages.com or yellowbook.com) find the website for each company, and send in an application.

I just did a search on monster for Atlanta Georgia, keywords "structural engineer" and came up with 32 hits. You can look at the names of each of the companies and also check their web pages for contact information to see if they are hiring.

You might also want to check the Georgia state website, they should have open positions for state jobs, and you can see if they are hiring any structural engineers.

All structural engineering companies are looking for engineers.

one simple way is to drive through Atlanta and look at the boards of projects decribing the design team for the building. the board will usually conatin the name of the structural engineering firm.

You of course could try URS, Skidmore owinmg and Merrill.

try the blue book for Georgia. http://www.thebluebook.com/
