And does the IRS consider a "buy and sell" transaction as 1 trade or 2 trades?

Cheers!

I"ve been renting a room from a lady for a year for my very small buiness that I just started a year ago. I've been paying my rent in cash every time and was never given any receit for that.my income was very small, I could hardly live on that money, had to save on everything that's why I didn't register for any taxes. Now It's picked up very quickly and I'm doing really well and I want to register as self employed and do it properly. And I also decided to move to different premises so the lady I was paying my rent is very upset about it and she turned very nasty to me and she wants to report me to the Tax people saying that she knows that I'm not paying my income tax and I'll be tax investigated. How true is that? Could she really find out this information so easily just knowing my name and address or do you think she is bluffing?? Can she really report me to the Tax Office even if she never gave me receit for my rent?? What can Tax people do in my case?? Please help

I have been told by my employer that they are going to start deducting 100% of my paycheck until a $5000 bill is paid. This is termed a "levy". I called one of those tax negotiation companies and and was told that I don't qualify for an Offer in Compromise because I make too much money. Has anyone dealt with the IRS successfully?

Basically, I'm a full time college student with expenses drowning me. Right now I owe $273.00. I also have the method of paying the minimum of $15.00.

I'm sure I wont be able to pay $273.00 right now, and the most I can rake up is $200.00 before the due date.

-- Is this good?
-- What will happen if I only pay $200.00?
-- What happens if I pay the minimum of $15.00?
-- If I pay $200.00, will the leftover $73.00 that I owe be interested?

Please help

Ok, well it is known that in my company if you work over 40 hours in one week, then you receive overtime pay. However, I just heard that it changed, and that you only receive overtime if you work more than 8 hours in a day. If you work 12 hours in one day, then 4 of those are overtime hours, even if you don't end up working 40 hours in that week.

Well, my question is..this week I worked about 63 hours. Is it the same overtime pay if the policy is either 1) anything over 40 hours a wk is overtime or 2)anything over 8hrs a day, even if not a 40hr week ?

I am confusing myself to death trying to figure out this problem which I am sure you will all answer so easily.

I'm the worst procrastinator. Call me a dummy but I knew I was going to be getting money back from the Feds so I just filed for the Extension so I could file after April 15th. However, the months have just gone by.. Now that I have some actual vacation time at home this holiday season, I decided to do my taxes.

Lo and behold, TaxCut won't let me file via e-file.. so a little web search reveals that October 15th, 2007 was the deadline for that... Ok.. so..

Yeah, I did actually do my taxes (finally) even though it's Dec 2007.. And yes, I'm due money. Can I still send in my paper return?

I heard conflicting info that Oct 15, 2007 was the deadline to file to get a refund. Others said we have up to 3 years. I couldn't find any definite answers on irs.gov.

Please, does anyone know?

This has never happened to me before. I've always filed early because I get a refund every year. This year, I just dropped the ball.

Thanks in advance!

I've sold something on ebay and usually when ever i sell something i usually sent an invoice... This time the person who bought the product used "buy it now" service and paid with their credit card.. So when i went to ebay to see if i sold anything i saw that it says that waiting for paypal payment.. There is a link where you can see click here to see the pay pal payment details; whenever i click it , it takes me to a 'page not found ' page.. So i gave two days for the transaction to go through.. And now i received a letter from pay pal saying that if i dont cash in by jan first week my sale would be cancelled.. And they gave me a link in the mail... But whenever i click it ; it takes me straight to that page not found b.s... And i am freaking out coz i did make a good sale... I even upgraded my account to premier hoping that would help but it didn't... SO pleaseeeeee helpppppppppp

I've been trying to pay off this loan for ages. When called to see if I could eliminate the debt by lower settlement paid in full immediately, I was told "we never settle." When I asked why I simply received the answer, "because we're the government." No other suggestions given. Only told I need to pay off all debt including all interest accrued and its okay to just pay the interest every month. My response, "great another 20 years paying the interest and never touching the principal." She agreed, apologized, and said, "good luck." This doesn't sit well with me. There's got to be some way to negotiate or find another option. Please advise. Thank you!

Im thinking of getting a Nordstrom's Visa Signature Credit Card, but I was wondering if I can get an additional card for my daughter? And also, do they allow balance transfers from a different credit card? It doesn't state it in the application, or anywhere on the website! I was wondering if any of you have been through the process! I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Ok. well the apt i live in has only two stories. there is two sides with 4 apts on each side. I am on the bottom and have a sliding glass door. awhile back i came home to find a man trying to get into the glass door. I called 911 and filed a police report. than i called the leasing agent and they told me not to tell anyone who also lives here. They said they where going to make it that you have to have a key to get into the building. Tonight some teenage boys where hanging out by my apt door and walking all around the building. No one on my half has a teenage kid. I am at the point where i do not feel safe anymore. my lease is not up till the last day of may. i have tried to talk to the leasing agent and they said i could go if i payed them about 2 grand. what can i do? thanks

I got my property tax bill for my old vehicle (which was sold to an auto shop when it broke down a while back). On the bill and through looking at my info. online, I notice the tax is for that car and not my new one. What do I need to do? Do I still pay for my old car's tax? And if so, what about my new one? Thanks!

We entered contract on a property about 90 days ago and were to close last Wednesday. We have performed as buyer up to and including signing/wiring funds to escrow. However, seller is failing to perform in that some vandalism occurred to the property and they have not taken action to repair it in over 8 weeks.

Furthermore, the listing agent has committed the following actions which I believe are unethical:

- Failed to promptly disclose the vandalism. He found out on a Monday but did not tell our agent until Friday, one hour before the end of our due diligence period. This prevented us from making a reasoned decision about whether to back out of the deal without forfeiting our EMD.

- Lied to our agent about the status of repairs. Reported repairs in progress (but they weren't). Claimed repairs would be done by closing (but they hadn't even authorized a contractor to do work). We're in indefinite limbo here.

Anything we can sue this lying agent for?
