The MLS is run by real estate associations. It's not open to the public. If you put it on the MLS you are also advertising that you will pay a commission to the agent who brings you a qualified buyer.
Hire a Realtor to represent you - ALL fees are negotiable so maybe you could do it for a flat fee instead of a commission in exchange for reduced services, such as advertising costs.

Actually, Paul IS correct. You won't get into the MLS without using a real estate brokerage agency of some sort, since anyone who CAN get you into the MLS IS a real estate brokerage agency. The key, however, is what you get for the money you pay. You WILL have to sign a listing agreement to get into the MLS, but it will be a 'limited service' listing, which will indicate that you get nothing beyond MLS access for the money paid.
In my area, we call such agencies 'cafeteria real estate agencies', simply because services provided vary with fees paid. You can select from nothing more than MLS access (the least expensive), plus other services as they are offered, each with its individual cost.
You do NOT have to offer a fee to any agent who brings a buyer, but of course, you will get zero showings if you do that, since no one is going to bring you a buyer for free, or for a low commission rate.
Seek out such firms in your area and discuss with them how they will do this, what it will cost, and exactly what they will do if you happen to get an offer this way.

Paul is incorrect, you definitely can get your home on the MLS without listing it with an agent. There are companies who charge a flat fee just for the MLS listing. Beware, though, as your money is not refundable, even if you do not sell your home. Also, if you ask the company to help you with anything pertaining to selling your home, they're going to charge you.
Make sure you have some sort of representation on the sale of your home. There are forms that you have to fill out, per state law, and the agent for the buyer will not help you with this without you paying him/her more money. Also, other agents will not show your home if you're not going to pay them. It stinks, as the reason that a Buyer gets an agent is to represent them, but buyers, for the most part, will not pay their agent, and an agent will not work for free.
Best of luck to you on selling your home yourself - it'll save you some money.

Try Iggys.com best of luck.
But you would need to pay a buyers Agent a percentage normal is 3%.
And that is not set in stone. Beware of selling the home without a real estate agent the buyers agent is not working for you.

Careful, they might not pay their property tax. Or, they owe the bank. And, you might sign something (without looking) take on their debt. Safe thing to do is buy title insurance. Insurance will only issue if they found nothing is wrong.
