Hi, I was trying to buy something online from walmart and when I got to checkout, I was transferred to a link asking me my SSN and Visa info, stating it's a Bank of America - Verified by Visa. I'm not sure whether to enter the info.. just last week my friend lost 700$ because of a phishing site asking her to change the password for the Bof America account. So could you please help me on this? Thank you

Say if I have a ST loss carryover of $10,000 and a ST gain of just 8,000 this year but a LT gain of 12,000 this year. Can I choose to just offset the 8,000 ST gain and pay taxes for the 12,000 LT gain this year, and carry the remaining 2,000 of ST loss over to next year?

I have a large balance on one of my credit card accounts that has an insane interest rate so I am looking to transfer it to a 0% card. The problem is, my credit rating has slipped due to late payments and I am having no luck finding a card to approve me. If anyone has gone through this (or has known someone who has) would be so kind to share tips or strategies with me, I would appreciate it! I feel like I am drowning in debt! Thank you in advance:)

I live in Ohio. I've went to 5 different places that SELL Western Union money orders, but will not cash it unless it came from that place. Tell me, if I had a money order that came from a store, why would I want to cash it at that store? WTF is the point of getting a money order & then cashing it from the same place?
But, I've tried everything. This is ridiculous. Where can I cash it? Cuz dumb me went ahead and mailed out the package to the lady that sent me the money order. So now if it's not a legit money order, I'm screwed. So someone tell me.

is this sufficient proof that buyer protection is not just for ebay purchases,

I am looking to buy something off gumtree but the seller lives miles away and the only way of me paying her is through pay pal, i suggested sending her half which is 500 pounds then she sends the item and if its to my liking i then send her the rest of the money, if the item isnt to my liking i can cancel the 500 pound payment.

does that sound right?

Just had yet another company knock at my door to try and get me to switch my power supplier (both gas and electricity).

1. do you switch regularly to get the best deal, or stay with the same supplier?

2. which company are you with?

The house was surrendered the house due to arrears, but only a few days ago. I now want to re-buy the house for my friend then sell it to get the equity out of the house and return the difference to the friend. Buying the house for me is not an option, neither is a family loan, they never work. The house was a council house which they now own.

Q1. Would a mortgage company refund the difference to the owner if/when the house sells for more?

Q2. Would the mortgage company allow us to pack back the arrears, now?

Q3.Is there a time limit to sell an ex-council property and not have to pay something to the council?

Help please... got to get this sorted and get the max equity out for the friend.

I received a call from a collection agency today. They told me a credit card debt from November 2000 was going to be turned over to the IRS.
I have never heard of this happening.
Before all you haters start freaking out on me like I ran up some debt and didn't pay up, there are private circumstances that I will not discuss here.
Can a debt over 7 years old be turned over to the IRS?

Today I got a call from a collection agency, the lady said that I owe for some magazines I ordered 3 years ago, and that I owed $2400.00 and that if I did'nt pay $700 of it today that they were gona have the cops come pick me up and take me to court where they are in New York, I live in Minnesota, I talked to my parents about it and my social worker and my friend and the local police department and they all said that they can't do that, that it is scare tactics, when I mentioned that to the collections lady she said they are wrong that they can send the cops to come get me, I don't know who to believe, my friend and the social worker told me and my parents that we should have told the collection lady to send me a bill as proof that I own them that money, my parents had already sent out a postal money order then came here and the social worker called and talked to my mom and told her to get the money order back and hold on to it until I get proof that I really owe that much money

I started working in October and my son had a severe case of pink eye, which I in turn received. I went to work not knowing I had the pink eye and when I figured it out my boss MADE me go home. This is all understood, however now I'm being written up for it. I was out for 2 days due to the pink eye, and I came in "late" (if you call 2 minutes late) on 5 occasions. My requests for my time records have been denied, and the HR women is constantly treating me unfairly. I was never given a formal "verbal" warning before I was written up, and now I'll be fired should I ever be late again. Just yesterday my son was out sick from school (they have very strict rules on illness) and I had to take him for his asthma treatments as well as get him some anti-biotics. I called in to this woman and she demanded a Dr's note for his illness. Is all of this legall? I'm at a loss, I beleive they are setting me up for constuctive termination especially because they fired my boss yesterday!
