I received and cashed a legal check made out to me from my health insurance company..only to realize after the fact that the check was actually for a medical claim so it probably should have be sent directly to my doctor instead. Since the error is technically my health insurance's fault, will I still be forced to pay them back the $106?

I would like to ask what marginal tax really is and what the effects would be if marginal tax was implemented in the tourism industry. Examples are preferred. Thanks a lot!

Do you recycle your old/used christmas cards? I always recycle mine and transform it into christmas postcards. What I would do is to tear the front of the used card (the one with the picture on it and where the backside is usually blank) and I would trim the edges, if needed. And I go on the backside and draw a divided line. On the right side, I would put the return and recipients' addresses and on the left side I would write a christmas greeting. Then put the postage stamp and pop it in the mail Viola! That's it!
Usually most of the christmas fronts that are transformed into postcards, you have to pay the regular first class letter mail rate (the rate does not fluctuate no matter how large or how heavy it is, it is a fixed rate) but you may get lucky and if the card is small enough, you may end up just paying the postcard rate. But at least this way you don't have to spend your time making new envelopes (and licking them) and you save more trees!
Anybody else use this idea?

We are trying to close on our new house next Friday. When we first signed the contract on the house (about 6 weeks ago) the sellers wanted to keep possession for 15 days after closing. Because we need a place to stay in the new town we are moving to, we said 'no', and that possession would need to be at close or there was no deal. They signed the contract with possession at closing.

Now they are saying they can't be out for 15 days after closing. And they say they never agreed to possession at close. They say they need the money from the house sale to renovate their new place. And apparently their family won't be around to help them move until the holidays are over.

We plan to tell them we can help them move, give them 4 thousand dollars now and help them find storage space, but __we need possession at closing__. And if they can't do that, we want $200 per day that they are in our house after closing (for hotel, meals out, storage space, insurance, etc).

Is this reasonable?

My roommate and I had an agreement that if one of us broke the lease we would find someone to replace ourself(verbal agreement). She notified me that she would be breaking the lease (up in June) and she hasn't made any attempt to replace herself before her move out date (Feb 1st). Is there anything I can do legally? can I tell her she has to pay the remainder of the lease out if she doesn't replace herself? I have been looking for a roommate as well and it is difficult, as it was to find her. Two heads are better than one and she wont cooperate. If anything, I want to punish her for being such a crappy roommate. Are there any loopholes? Can I fudge the truth and make her pay? She is getting off too easy and I have to do all the footwork all over again. The only thing that I can think of is that she wont get her security deposit back. I think she may be aware of that already. Is there anything sneaky I can do :}. Help!! Any lawyers out there? help!

Would I be able to write off a portion of this trip, as I already have three appointments planned while over there? Also, what is the percentage of the trip that I could claim on a 5 day getaway if about 2 of those days will be business related?

My wife and I made an offer on a house that a company picked up in a forecloser. The house was reduced by 30k after being on the market for some time and so we made an offer to pay thier adjusted asking price. The house is in a great part of town. It almost seems to good to be true. The offer was made with $1000.00 earnest money and the deadline is due tomorrow by 6pm. We have yet to hear anything from the seller. There is obviously some stratedgy going on here or maybe im a bit to paranoid. But I suspect to hear something to make my stomach turn tomorrow. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

I'm trying to find a newspaper anywhere in the USA that has the largest circulation per $ spent on advertising.

I'd like to run a small 2 line text ad that reaches 50,000 or more people for as cheap as possible.

Been looking for a job for a year now no such luck tho, but just found out he is bad mouthing me saying I yelled and screamed, which turns away any potential employers. I really think that no one will hire me because of why I quit and for the bad reference. Who is gonna hire a "hot head"? I know I need proof that he is saying untruthful remarks but no one has it documented in writing. What other reason can I put on applications and at a interview besides quit due to verbal abuse which is the truth? How do I get someone to hire me for not putting up with a bully ex boss?

When I get a job, I plan to turn off my cell phone when I am off work so that other employees can't call me to try to trade shifts or so that the boss can't call me to try to get me to work because someone else called off. Can I get fired for this?

This is regarding fast food, retail, bookstore, etc.
