Would I be able to write off a portion of this trip, as I already have three appointments planned while over there? Also, what is the percentage of the trip that I could claim on a 5 day getaway if about 2 of those days will be business related?

If the principal reason is business (based upon the time spent in business vs personal pursuits) then you may apportion the costs. Meal deductions for the business portion is limited to 50%. The hotel bills for the business portion are fully deductible (tip: take the rate that includes breakfast, as long as it's not separately stated it's fully deductible) and transportation costs are apportioned based upon the ratio of time spent on business pursuits vs personal pursuits.

If the principal reason is personal, as it appears from your question, you may deduct the hotel for the business portion and half of the business meals but none of the transportation costs.
