It is possible that the old creditor closed out your file without ever reporting to the credit bureau. Easiest way to fix this is to file a dispute with the credit bureau saying that the content of the report is inaccurate. The credit bureau will contact your creditor and conduct an investigation that will take up 30 to 45 days at the most.
