Do they usaully get paid good? I only have to have a GED or highschool diploma to be eligible.

You'd review people's tax papers, interview them to get answers you need about their personal situation, and prepare their tax returns.

Pay isn't all that high unless you are a CPA.

You'd need to have formal training and certification in tax preparation for any legitimate place to hire you.

First you need to get some accounting education to see if you even like working with numbers. If you find that you do, the more education you have (Bach, Masters, CPA cert) the more you will be able to do for your clients. Laws change every year and you need to know how to decifer that. They can make good money but it is mainly a seasonal job, not much past May other than late filers so you would need to offer other services such as payroll or bookkeeping for a steady monthly income. March - April can be stressful as corporations have to file my March 15th and individuals by April 15th.
