I have a family of raccoons living (rent-free, I might add!) in my attic. Now...do I need to issue a notice of eviction before I try to humanely trap them?
Please advise.

Since I cannot find how to followup your answers with another question, I have to pose another new question, sorry.

I did read it was a good idea to gift $12k/child/year prior to death. Perhaps they meant only if my income bracket is less than theirs? Or is there a better reason?

Thanks all.

Ok, So.. In a way I have bit off more than I could chew.. I haven't been responsible and I have just spent..

So, I am sitting here with 15k in debt. I have never missed a payment.. and I often pay more than the minimum.. But, at this rate its going to take years to pay off.. So, I cut all my cards up and just started paying them down...

I was wondering if a loan (personal) was ok to get to pay off the cards, and my score go up.. trying to refi my house..

I have learned my lesson abou credit cards.. hence why they are cut up.. and I have paid off alot.. and closed them...

Just any advise would help..

Thanks!

I woke up this morning to find that my apartment had been broken into and robbed. I locked the door but I'm sure that somebody (a previous tenant) had a key and used it to get in. I would like the break my lease and move out but I don't want to be penalized for it. My question is...Are landlords required to change locks in between tenants? I live in California and I couldn't find any information about this topic. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello everyone, Farrah had asked a similar question. If a family member that is a US Citizen or US Resident Alien and lives in Pakistan sends money that he or she inherited to another family member (brother or sister) so the family member in the US can pruchase a home for himself or herself, what tax law(s) apply in this situation? If taxes has been paid in Pakistan on that money, will the family memeber, who lives in the US. be also required to pay taxes in the US? I am not sure if gift tax applies in this case and if there is a way to reduce the amount of tax paid because I would hate to have my friend double taxed (in Pakistan and the US). Thank you.

Is the former homeowner responsible for future problems?
Here's the deal: My husband and I rehabbed a house in the spring and sold it to a cop. Well, about a month ago, she called our home (which I find very invasive since we never gave her our number) and told us that we needed to repair all the plumbing since it was now shot, even though her prior inspection approved it. Now, she is a cop and said that since we didn't have permits, if we didn't pay her she would report us to the city, which would cause us to have a flag by our name for future rehabs. She also threatened a lawyer. In the end, after we considered legal, we just payed her the money only after she verbally promised that she would not call us again. Well, of course, today she called and left a message saying that she needed to talk to us. My husband and I are consulting a lawyer on Monday and not calling her back until then. Plus, I recordered her message from my machine just in case. Now, my main question, is this extort

I was at an IT job interview, and the interviewers kept asking me "experience questions". They didn't depart from questions about experience. They did not ask any other kind of questions.

Well, what left me feeling ridiculed were:
1) Interviewer: Do you have experience in this and that?
Me: Yes, I have use that skill in such and such project in my previous job.
Interviewer: HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE YOU'VE DONE THAT?
Me: Well, it was probably two years ago.
Interviewer: We're looking for someone who has done it RECENT.
(It turns out that having experience alone was not good enough. It had to be a RECENT EXPERIENCE.)

2) They asked my if I have database administrator experience in Oracle and SQL Server, but I could see that such experience was not needed based what they said during the later part of the interview. After all, I was interviewing for a helpdesk position.

What I want to pass on to others is this. To reiterate, having experience alone is not enough.
