We are currently looking for a number of administrative and executive assistants at my employer. I work as a Human Resources Manager and coordinate the panel interviews for the jobs. All finalists are brought into a panel interview and need to talk to a half dozen people at once. We ask some tough questions.

The first question we ask is this, "do you expect to participate in office politics in this job"? Almost everyone says no, or they are not familar with the term Office Politics. We did have a few very sharp candidates who said Yes. Of course this was the right answer.
EVERY PERSON WHO WORKS CLOSELY WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND NEED THEIR COOPERATION AND SUPPORT MUST PLAY OFFICE POLITICS.

Very few jobs work in isolation and we need to understand office politics and play it well if we expect to get ahead. Agree or disagree?

About a year ago, I invested couple thousands of dollars in forex market. I have more lose than gain. Overall, I've gained around $7000.00 (my loss is higher than this value). My question is what would the tax rate for this capital gain be for this kind of situation. My regular income is less than $20,0000

Hey Guys, Im 23 years old and I work 2 full time jobs... I already have a 403B plan with one of my jobs and the other offers a 401k plan. But in my 401k plan I am going to have them manage it because I dont have the time to take and watch for what is rising or not. But my question is there are 5 types of portfolios... The Conservative, The Moderate, The Balanced, The Growth, and The Aggressive... Should I be aggressive with this portfolio or kinda laid back with it. I only plan on staying with this job for about a year or 2... My other job is my career and they offer 403b because they are non profit.

You just found out you are expecting a child. You went to Wal Mart and bought everything you think you may need to prepare for the arrival of your child. You spent $2000! You need to decide if you should put it on your credit card or use the store credit provided by Wal Mart. (For tax purposes, you live in Nova Scotia and the HST is back up to 15%). Wal Mart's deal is that you can pay the taxes on the purchase and a fee of $50 immediately, then not pay for one year. At the end of that year you must make 48 monthly payments of $60. If you put it on your credit card (remember to include the tax!) your credit card company charges you a monthly interest charge of 1% and you must make a monthly payment of 30% Which plan will you go with and why? (Show calculations for both options).

I work at a fancy hotel and I thought I would like it but I really hate it now. I am trying to think of excuses to call off of work. They didn't even train me enough and I already got in trouble three times because of this (working the front desk as a cashier). A lot of the guests are really rude and nasty and some of the other co-workers are also. I can't take it anymore but it is so hard to find another job/internship. I would really like to find something in my field of finance NOW because I am soo tired of this. Any advice?? And can someone give me a reason to call off today? I also hate that seniority is practiced and I am the only one who works the late shift because of this well everyone works the morning shift. Last night I worked from 3 to almost 1 because they had no one to cover the overnight shift.

When you agree to have a payment deducted from your bank account, say by the phone company, on a certain date, say the 10th of every month, it seems that the money is not immediately deducted but takes a few days to 'process'.

By that time, you may not have enough funds to cover that particular payment. The bank pays the bill anyway, but deducts a further $20 fee for its 'loan'.

Is there any way you can get the bill paid immediately on the agreed-upon date so that you don't risk having insufficient funds a few days later when the money is actually debited? Or is this an unavoidable scam so that the bank can collect these annoying (and expensive) fees? And are they in cahoots with the creditors?

Anyone?

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me with this. I live in Utah, and I gave my landlord 45 day notice that I was leaving by November 06' after my year lease was up. I moved out early on 10/30/07, cleaned the place, had it sparkling! The carpet was cleaned by me, and the house was immaculate. I took pictures when I left.I contacted the landlord, who didn't return my calls. Finally, the landlord said they were charging me $300 for cleaning, $200 for carpet cleaning and $275 for a broken sprinkler head. I fought them on these charges, althought the sprinkler head was true. I went with my uncle and fixed the sprinkler head which the part cost $4.29! They finally gave me my deposit and out of $1100 they gave me only $575. Also, they gave it to me Dec. 1st, which is 2 days after the 30 days. If I take them to court, will the judge acknowledge the deposit was late and that they didn't comply with the 30 day law even though it was only 2 days late? I need help with this! Do I have a case?

I didn't file a tax return in '06, yet. Just because I will only get a small return, but I will get a return. If I apply for a "stated income" Mortgage, I will still have to fill out a 4506-T form (IRS-Request for tax returns), but will it matter? Anyone who can shed light on this I would very much appreciate it.
