Assuming you qualify for EIC you would recieve $2010 for 2 children plus the amount you had withheld

If that's all that you earned there is no need to file if no income taxes were withheld. HOWEVER you may be eligible for a payment under the Earned Income Credit and must file a return to get that money. That could be as much as a little over $2,000 so it would definitely be worth filing.

You can't file Form 1040-EZ and claim either dependents or the EIC. You must at least file a Form 1040-A return.

Definitely file, even though you aren't required to. If anything was withheld for federal income tax, you should get it all back, plus if the kids live with you and are under 19, or under 24 and full time students, you will most likely be eligible for an Earned Income Credit of around @2000 - if you don't file you won't get anything back.

You can't use a 1040EZ as one person suggested, if you are claiming dependents. You'll need a 1040A. Look for a VITA site in your area - they'll do your taxes for free, you don't have to pay to have them done. To find a VITA site go to irs.gov and put VITA in the search box. The info isn't out there yet - sites haven't been finalized - look in early January.

You can file for free online since you're considered "low-income". You can find the link from the IRS website, I think it's www.irs.gov

You'll get a large Earned Income Credit, so be sure to file. Perhaps a couple thousand. :-)

You'll want to file the regular 1040, not the EZ.

you'd want to file since you'll probably get it all back if you only made 5,000. and paid taxes. And if all you have to do is an ez form (assuming US resident) that forms easy enough to do yourself or have someone help if you need to be sure. But to not file and leave the money for the gov't seems crazy.
